Something is fishy here (Reply to this comment)

This reviewer gives the XC 70 a single star for "Reliability", but five stars for "Quality and Craftsmanship". Doesn't sound consistent to me. If the car's reliability was so poor, then why would he give it the highest rating for quality? Shouldn't he have given it a single star for quality as well?
I'm always suspicious of long, ranting reviews anyway. So what's the deal? Does he believe that the XC displays the highest levels of quality and craftsmanship even though the entire car had to be replaced (just to shut him up, I suspect?)

Since Ford now owns Volvo, this is EXACTLY what I was afraid would happen (Reply to this comment)

I currently drive a Camry Wagon, and it has been the most reliable car I ever owned. However, there will come a time when I must replace it. I took a look at the dying "station wagon" class of vehicles currenly being sold. Since SUV's came on the scene, wagons have been dying. The volvo wagon was the only entrant I was considering. BUT, I owned a Taurus Wagon, (three transmission changes, thank you, TWO I paid for), and after that malay, I would NEVER buy a Ford again. So what does ford do, buy the only car company that I was interested. I see from reading your driving experience, there are gremlins alive in this vehicle. Now I used to personally have to fix the ford every night, so I do not want to repeat this experience. Reading your report, I got nightmares about my past experiences. My question is, do you think it is a problem with,1, the whole XC70 series, or just your car, and 2, are the same problems in the V70 non cross country version, and 3. is it limited to the 2003 model year? I really do not want to repeat the terrible ford experience again, and deep down in my gut, i was worried that something like this would happen. Volvo a good car company gets bought by ford, and ford dictates cheapening the car line. Happened to the taurus. I know it all too well. Been there. I am praying the Japanese reintroduce a wagon soon, so i will avoid the volvo "gamble" at best, and "nightmare" at worst. Thanks for posting this opinion.
