Pros: too many to list, see the opinion
Cons: seriously addictive
The Bottom Line: If you have a lot of spare time on your hands, get it. If you don't have spare time... don't EVER even glance at this game.

| normal250's Full Review: EverQuest for Windows |
I've been an RPG fan for a long time. Calling Everquest an RPG isn't fair.
It belongs in another genre, and that is MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). It's massive because there are thousands of people playing on dozens of servers across a truly vast world. It's Multiplater because of the interaction between players and with the world of Everquest. The rest speaks for itself.
The MMORPG genre started out with MUDs (Multi User Dimension, basically multi-user online text games). Next came a few crude graphical games like Meridian 59 (this game left a bad taste in most people's mouths, including mine). Then came Everquest.
Everquest is unlike any of it's predecessors. I mean just the technological aspect of supporting 80,000+ simultaneous connections is staggering. I mean... wow. The graphics and sound are great, the world is huge and the sheer volume of things to do and interact with is amazing.
Here's a bit of info about the game itself. As with most classic RPG's you choose from among many races and classes. I personally play a Troll Shadow Knight (part Necromancer, part Warrior) and a Half-elf Rogue (thief).
As you progress in the game you will gain levels and money and outfit yourself in various equipments (the amount of stuff you can get is, of course, huge).
There are many places to explore... cities, dungeons, deserts, mountains, ice lands, you name it. And no matter where you go, there will be plenty of people to group with and plenty of monsters to fight.
It's a truly one of a kind game.
