jonstieg's Full Review: Sony MSG-64A Just $44.99.. MagicGate Memory Sticks...
Positives- The Magic Gate Memory Stick is white. It is the same size as any other Sony Memory Stick. It has a feature that sets itself apart from other Memory Sticks. It can store music in ATRAC form. I'm not really sure what the details of this are, but whatever music I stored in ATRAC form was almost half the size in memory than when I saved it in MP3 form. This is very important because instead of fitting 18 or 19 songs in the 64 mb, I was able to fit 27 or 28 songs. Also, I think that the Magic Gate has better copyright protection software, so that you are able to put songs onto this one that you wouldn't be able to put on others. Another positive is that this has the Sony name brand on it. In all my experiences with Sony I have never had any problems.
Negatives- The Magic Gate does cost a little extra. However, I just sold my 64 mb Magic Gate on eBay for $26, so really you can get it for pretty cheap. The only time that I would say that you should not get the Magic Gate over the regular Sony Memory Stick or over some Lexar Memory Stick is when you are using it in a camera, because then I don't think it has any benefits. But if you are using it to store music on an MP3 or Clie then I would buy the Magic Gate.
