I have tried many different FTP programs, but for some reason, I keep returning to WS-FTP. Although the program is not the most attractive interface, it is very straight-forward, easy-to-use, and very functional.

I think other FTP programs seem to complicate the FTP process by adding all sorts of extra features to their software. WS-FTP, however, remains simple.

To connect to an FTP server, you simply enter the IP, login username, and password. Some of the other FTP programs use wizards to help facilitate this process, even though it should actually be pretty easy to do without a wizard's assistance.

Once you've connected, WS-FTP gives you two windows (local drive and remote drive) and two buttons (upload and download). To receive a file, you simply click on it in the remote drive window and click the download button. The upload process works in a similar fashion. It's a breeze to use!

The only problem with WS-FTP is that it isn't as "pretty" as other FTP programs, which is fine with me. It is functional and works great with no complications caused by "extra features" added by other programs.
