I want more than 10!

The Bottom Line Ten simply isn't enough. Metal is wide, varied and ever evolving...ten albums are merely a tease.

Merely my preferences:

1. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
Blues rock that is heavy, plodding and spooky...I'm going to put all the Sabbath albums on one disc, even all the bad ones, because my life would be empty without it.

2. Dio - Holy Diver
Need I say more?

3. Motorhead - No Sleep Til Hammersmith and No Sleep At All
Live albums showcase metal best and Motorhead is a band best experienced live. Lemmy's an ugly sonofa and he can't sing but metal ain't pretty.

4. Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance & Defenders of The Faith
Again, I'm putting both on one disc. These are my favorites and I think they represent Priest much better than say...Turbo. (GAG)

5. Slayer - Reign In Blood
Scary, aggressive, fast and ripping. This is the music one hit the pit with, that is the REAL pit.

6. Metallica - Master of Puppets
Back in the day this mighty band was metal and it was good.
"Damage Inc." is a freaking classic!!

7. Moonspell - Irreligious
Okay, I adore "Wolfheart." I would take their entire catalog with me but "Irreligious" is a bit more engaging and something I can't help but listen to start to finish. It's a very addictive album.

8. Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
"Revelations" is worth it alone. Very fine album.

9. Death - Leprosy
I'm reaching waaay back here but this must be included. I would also take their entire catalog as well as Control Denied but that's a horse of another color. Chuck should be revered and admired. He is the father of death metal and he's proudly keeping metal alive. Glad you're still here with us, Chuck! BTW, this album kicked me so hard and gave me a few nightmares. (I was 12 when I bought it.)

10. Venom - Black Metal
Okay, if you're going to attempt to put together an essential "introduction" to metal together, you must include this. Only because I can name too many great Mercyful Fate albums and Bathory is kind of hard to come by.
Venom, along with Mercyful Fate and Bathory gave us black metal. The best part about Venom is that they rode the Satan wagon for fun and profit not out of any sincere blasphemous intent. Too bad that didn't translate well in Scandinavia but I find them very entertaining. Varg is quite the character!

So there we have it, a small sampling that would soon drive me crazy because I WANT MORE!!!!
