The Bottom Line Lip balm....it's not just for breakfast anymore.
One of the things I miss in Israel is Carmex. I am glad to say that friends who are coming from the states are bringing me several "pots" of this wonderful lipbalm. Whether you use your lipbalm in stick, pot, gel, or liquid form the secret is to be consistent. Licking your lips may work for supermodels, but it is guaranteed to dry out and chap your lips. To keep your lips kissably smooth and unchapped, wet your toothbrush and before you stick it in your mouth, brush your lips. This will exfoliate them and make them softer. It also seems to make them less prone to chapping. Now, rinse your toothbrush again. Apply toothpaste and brush your pearly whites. (Nice lips look best with clean teeth.) If you are going to be outside, you might want to consider lipbalm with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 15. Unfortunately, lipbalms don't come in many colors. Moisturizing lipsticks are fine for when your lips are in good shape. "Long lasting" lipsticks can sometimes be drying. If your lips are chapped, use lipbalm and reapply it often! If you are going to be flying on a plane, skip the lipstick and go for lipbalm. (If you have to look perfect when you step off the plane, you can always switch to lipstick before you land.) I also find that lipbalm is very good for dry elbows and knuckles. I have used it to soften cuticles also. Do your lips, and whoever you like to kiss a favor. Pucker up and put on your balm. |
