Netflix Didn’t Even Kiss Me After They Screwed Me.....
by Freak369 | May 15 '03

Netflix is a site that I swore I would never join. Nope. Not me. I have eight HBO channels, a whole library of VHS and DVD titles and three [yes three] video rental stores within walking distance of my home. Why would...

Hello! I am new to epinions, but I really liked your review-very insightful. I have NetFlix and like it, but I also don't have cable. That I am sure makes a big difference!
Again, Great Review!

Overriding factor for joining Netflix..... (Reply to this comment)
by schultzie

Without question, is the lack of accruing "extended viewing" fees.

While you bring up some very valid points, I've yet to experience most of them myself. I did lose a disc one time and reported it as such and I was not charged. I believe there is a clause that states that there is a slight amount of leeway in this area and that repeated instances will result in your credit card being charged and/or account termination.

I've been a Netflix customer off and on for about three years now...I cancel because I try to convince myself that I don't need yet ANOTHER monthly bill, however old habits die hard, and I fail to return Hollywood or Blockbuster films on-time...thus being saddled with excessive late fees.

Netflix may not be for everyone...especially those who desire instant gratification, but for the most part, their availability is outstanding, their selection is cannot be rivaled (at least by the brick and mortars) and shipping has gotten to the point where most discs take 2-3 days MAX (and some often arrive sooner!)

I have been a subscriber for 9 months now and have nothing but success with Netflix. Couple of DVD's have been delayed getting to me... Netflix shipped a duplicate quickly. The website is so easy to use and the customer service is simple - you just report a DVD missing, broken, whatever. I haven't been to a blockbuster in 9 months - GOOD RIDDANCE!

I really wanted to like the service - really I did! Even though I swore I would never try them - I did. I really hope that they can get the delivery issue addressed because for the price of membership, it is a great deal. If someone is happy with NetFlix and they get great service it is better than having to pay late fees, waiting in line and hoping that they have what you are looking for in stock :]

too bad (Reply to this comment)

I've used them a year, have no complaints and no problems. Received one bad DVD which they replaced immediately. My worst experiences have been at Hollywood, just a horrible place, and I do belong to the Blockbuster Rewards program. I just find the Netflix option so damn enjoyable.

But, of course, I used to use Peapod too when it was available. I'd never leave my house if I didn't have to.

Too bad you gave such a huge thumbs down even though it seemed your experiences with them wasn't all that bad. Good review however

Even with the hassles.... (Reply to this comment)

My tendency to rent 15 DVDs per month (over $50 per month at most video stores) and notoriously poor memory for return dates, I happen to get much out of my membership. However, this was a great analysis of the negative aspects of the service. Nicely done.

I have never rented a movie to watch at home? I do have 3 VCRS and 2 DVD players, but we just don't use them.

You have written an excellent review here!

My best,

the point of Netflix. I guess I'm an old fashioned, brick and mortar sort of gal or something.

Nice job on the review.
