I wish I had read some reviews about eDiets first. I would encourage anyone considering eDiets to beware. Read the fine print before you click any buttons. There are check-boxes that will sign you up for extra programs, and extra charges if you don't un-check them before you proceed. 2.99 a week is only for the most basic meal plan, and there are no fitness plans for that price. When I called to cancel, I was on hold for 15 minutes, and then greeted by a beverage slurping customer service rep. Yeah, pleasant.
I am very unhappy with ediets. The mislead you. I tried to cancel my membership 5 mins after I joined but was told I could not, I'm stuck paying for 3 months!!!
Ediets is full of lying employees and horrible customer service. I placed a call to customer service and had to ask for a supervisor 4 times and am still waiting on a call back. That was 3 weeks ago. I filed a complaint with the BBB
eDiets was a complete waste of my hard-earned money! by hwdpat2001 ,Feb 16 '07
I agree with the other negative reviewers herein...I received NO useful information from eDiets. I'm "only" out $39.87 for a 3-month membership...having let it run its course so they wouldn't charge the additional $25. SPARKPEOPLE.COM is much more user-friendly, has great content and motivating articles, and all tools and content are FREE!
Unbelievably, on either the eDiets Healthy Heart or Low Sodium plans, one option was to go to any fast food restaurant and eat a meal containing over 1200 mg. of sodium! Recipes rely too heavily on onion and garlic powder for flavor (neither of which agree with me). And I was astounded at the labor-intensive meal plan that would have me cooking 3 different meals every single day (not enough simple foods or planned use of leftovers). None of this information is known until after you generate a personalized diet plan.
I accidentally checked the "do not communicate" box when I signed up. Despite calling 3 times, customer service was unable or unwilling to fix the problem even though they repeatedly told me they had. Hence I didn't receive a single newsletter from eDiets.
Don't bother, this stuff is nasty and so is customer service by heartburnlady ,Jul 24 '08
This stuff is not worth the money. My turkey sandwich was two pieces of grocery store wheat bread with some soggy salty turkey coldcuts. Disgusting. The chicken breast with green beans and red-skin roasted potatoes was covered with so much pepper it had to be scraped off. It was so spicy it was inedible. They send you things like Nutri-grain cereal bars, Quaker granola bars, Dannon yogurt, stuff you can get at the store yourself and not pay shipping. There are no vegetables other than what small amounts are in the food and no salad at all. Every mean you are supposed to add lots of fresh fruit and/or dairy. At least Nutri-systems included salad and veggies as well as fruit. When I called customer service to tell them I cannot eat this stuff the woman was very rude and argumentative. I did get a credit for three days of food after suggesting to her that they rate the food on their website in terms of spicy seasonings. I would not ever order this slop again!
Money making Scam! Requires 12 week contract by bettinat ,Sep 10 '08
Total money making scam. I subscribed thinking that the $17.96 I paid was a one time fee. I attempted to cancel after I saw the second charge on my credit card only to be told their "service agreement" stated that I needed to keep service for 3 months before I could cancel or pay a $ 25.00 early termination fee. I used the site once to get a workout plan and paid $ $55 for that. Stupid me! Stay away from anyone that forces you to stay subscribed even though you never use their services.
Confusing sign up process - then they charge you by metafacer-clet ,May 29 '09
I wanted to take advantage of their free trial offer, and I tried to do so. I ended up signing up for the service when I didn't want to.
I saw right away it wasn't what I wanted. So, I looked right away for a way to cancel the account.
You can only cancel your account through a live operator, which wasn't available until the next day. It inded up being three days later when was able to call in.
The operator informed me that they need to charge me $25 if I cancel before the first three months.
Charged for food that was not even shipped!! just ok food. by miss_ravenous ,Dec 11 '09
I tried this diet and didnt really like it, yes its cheap but when i called to cancel they charged me a restocking fee for something that had not even shipped yet. The food was not great and you buy the same amout at your local supermarket. I was really irritated with the fee for something that was weeks away from reciving . LAME .
I do not recommend ediets to anyone. It is a SCAM. by customerannie ,Aug 27 '08
E-Diets is a terrible online scam. DO NOT JOIN. They are not upfront about costs, then when you want to cancel, it costs $25 in a cancellation fee! I didn't get anything out of it and ended up paying over $40. FOR NOTHING. The eating plans are ridiculous and unless you stay home all day to make ridiculous foods like "vegetarian french toast" then you are out of luck. The fitness plan involved detailed things like "hike for 30 minutes today." Are you kidding? For a better plan that's free, I recommend just going to Self or Women's Health. Terrible.
eDiets is nothing more than an SLICK advertising driven series of websites that rehashes information gleaned from other sources. BEWARE, when you join and visit their websites, you will be bombarded by Popups, Spyware and Malware which will infect and slow your Computer.
When you try to cancel your subscription in the first month, you'll find that they will still try to charge you for the full 3 months, even if you opt out by paying their $25 cancellation PENALTY.
Save your money, save your computer... don't get sucked in by their advertising.
Dissatisfied with ediets by aladiesview ,Oct 08 '05
I was dissatisfied with ediets. They claim you get an online journal but what you get are list of daily recipes that are not at all practical. You are told at sign up it will based on the foods that you like to eat. This is untrue. They never go through a list of foods, which you like to eat.
FYI: Please make sure you read their disclaimer -- you are signing up for 3 months; if you cancel before the 3 months there is an early termination fee of 25 dollars billed to your credit card. So if you sign up, make sure you have 11.96 plus a 25.00 cancellation fee to throw away for a service that is not at all practical. Also once you cancel, you are locked out of your account(s) immediately. You wont get a chance to finish up the month(s) you paid for.
Dont' do it!!! You can't make them stop charging you the monthly fee. I have sent numerous e-mails and finally got in touch with a real person who told me that they had attempted to get in touch with me, via my e-mail address, but that I had not responded. REALLY, I receive all their junk mail, and yet, the message to contact them direct in lost in cyberspace, color me dubious. Anyway, I was guaranteed that my subscription was cancelled and that I would no longer be charged, when guess what, I am charged again. This has been going on for 4 months now and I am furious!!! At $17.96 per month, for a service I do not use and am not happy with, I see this as a huge waste of my money and time. With ecomonic times as hard as they are, I would think that companies would work hard to make sure their customers are happy, so they might come back at a later time when things start to look up.
