Pros: great classes, friendly people, nice community Cons: not enough night classes, financial aid seems low
I am currently a student at this school. I find that is a nice school in a great community.
This school has many different programs to offer. They also offer a huge variety of classes. I am disappointed that they do not have a pre-law program at the...

Pros: Small town, abundant student activities, great sports teams Cons: none that I can think of!
Jacksonville State is our family school. My husband, daughter, sisters and I have been very satisfied with our experiences at JSU. As an adult student I found the experience challenging, yet rewarding. The staff and instructors are caring and extend a...

Pros: Short distance to class Cons: No sleep, sick all the time
I moved to Jacksonville in 1995 basically because I lived 35 miles away and didn't want to commute. I lived in an all girls dorm which was one of the worst experiences of my life so far. It seemed as if everyone who lived in the dorm joined a sorority...

Pros: great programs, perfectly safe community, and diverse for every learning area! Cons: could it be a crime to be any more of a great university?
Just yesterday an admissions counselor from J.S.U. attended my school and presented us with information concerning the university. I have planned on attending college out of state and refused to even consider anything nearby, but after she shared the...

Pros: Small town, abundant student activities, great sports teams Cons: located 45 min from any major city (Birmingham)
I think it's a great place. Some of my finest memories are here. JSU has an extremely well regarded nursing program (BSN), a very popular criminal justice program, and a wonderful education program, among others. Campus life is also very interesting,...

Worth Your Time
by miller1611 ,Dec 23 '05
Pros: Small enough to get around easily, big enough to meet diverse people Cons: The tuition price usually increases every year, though not a significant amount
Jacksonville State University is the "Friendlist" school in the south. That is "our" slogan and that is the truth. I have worked in some capacity at the University for over nine years and I also went to school there for five. I grew up eight miles down the road and have grown up to be a Gamecock. JSU is a good place to grow, learn, and love. When you go there a lot of times you don't want to leave. They have a wonderful nursing department that has been proud to boast a 100% placement with their graduates, the Communication Department has concentrations for you to choose from and the Education Department is tough to get into and tough to get out of and it is worth all of the work. JSU was once called a "Teachers College" and it is still known as that. JSU is a good value for your money when selecting a place to go to school and this is coming from someone who knows the ins and outs of the place. JSU is right for you!
