Pros: small dorm, casual, rooms have character Cons: everythign else
I attended The College of New Jersey from the Fall of 1987 until the Spring of 1989 (at which time it was known as Trenton State College). I left at that time to enter the work force, as I was unclear as to what I really wanted to do with my life. ...

Pros: Strong academics. Cons: Everything else.
The College of New Jersey is a bargain, particularly if one is able to convince Ma and Pa not to kick one out of the house at the magical age of 18. As always, it's room and board that kills the college student.
TCNJ has an excellent...

Pros: The classes are good. Cons: No social life, too many gen. eds. and the administration is not helpful, and ect.
I am only a freshman at The College of New Jersey but I already wish that I had done some more research before I agreed to come here. Most of the annoyances that I have had experienced since coming here, I now read about in reviews about this college. I...

Pros: Class Size, Research Opportunities, Professors Cons: You won't see students mobilized for or against any big issues - it is sort of quiet (nothing like schools in the 1970's)..
As you can tell from the title, I am a proud graduate of TCNJ. With the growing recognition of this school , I was able to use my degree to land myself three offers in the field of education within two months of graduation. I took classes with great...

Pros: large selection, location, courteous service, vegetarian options, good hours Cons: increasing prices
The College of New Jersey's food services thrive on two main attributes: the servers and the food. Generally, both of them tend to be quite satisfactory.
To begin with there is a fairly good variety of food to choose from with pizza,...

Pros: Good Academics Cons: Suburban College With No Personality
I am a lifelong resident of New Jersey (well almost) and where better to attend than The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). If you are a good student that wants to stay in state, get a good education, and can't afford Princeton, you have 2 choices: TCNJ or...

Pros: Academic Stature-Cost of Attendance-Job Prospects Cons: No Freshman Driving-Housing Availability-Lack of culture
This is a secondhand view from NJ parent of TCNJ grad '06: Academic Stature/Cost of Attendance ------------------------------
-----
1) Ability to transfer credits from summer classes taken at local community colleges and graduate early. 2) No TAs ...

Pros: Academic Excellence Cons: Suitcase School by Reputation
Reading the opinions of others concerning this school has been extremely helpful to my son and I. These opinions are biased of course which is what makes them helpful. My son does not live in NJ but was interested in the school because of its strong...

Pros: beautiful campus, great classes, many activities, close enough to Philly and Atlantic City Cons: freshman=no cars, parking is atrocious lots of geese, selective freshman admission
I attempted to be admitted in 1996 as a freshman, but was denied...so I chose a different school (please read my review on College Misericordia).
The freshman admission selection is very hard to beat. Transfer students are well sought after though,...

Pros: Good Education at good cost Cons: Lacks the excitement of a city
The College of New Jersey is a great place to get an excellent education at a fair price. The college prides its self on being a very good public school with the advantages of a private school with out the cost. The faculty is very good giving...

Pros: Generally excellent housing, dorms close to academic buildings Cons: Lottery for last 2 years - might not make housing, there is one dorm there that is older and "gross" (Centennial Hall) - everyone tries hardest to avoid it
I entered TCNJ when it was still called Trenton State College. I was part of the first class of incoming freshman to participate in the FYE program. This "First Year Experience" is a program where all the freshman live together in the Towers...

Pros: Affordable Cons: Often known as "suitcase college"
If only they didn't change the name!!!! The College of New Jersey, was formerly known as Trenton State College. It is very depressing to have your alma mater name changed to something that isn't even remotely close. Despite the above, I would...

Pros: Intellectually Stimulating Environment Cons: Location in area with little to do without driving to a city.
I am one of the youngest members of TCNJ faculty, now in my third year as a professor in the Department of Law and Justice. I passed on positions at other better-known universities to come here because I believe in the school's mission of being a...

Pros: Hmm cannot think of any off hand. Oh yeah, the campus is pretty Cons: nothing to do, small classes, and everyone seems to be from NJ
Believe me...things are not picture perfect at TCNJ! I attended my freshmen year and was not happy there. I felt I was at a boarding school. The classes are way to tiny to be considered a college and everyone in these tiny classes live in some county...

Pros: reputation, decent courses, education dept. Cons: suitcase school, no car on campus, low diversity
I attended The College of New Jersey for only one year--that was MORE than enough time for me to realize what a suitcase school really is. Everyone goes home on the weekends...everyone. There's nothing to do except study. You cannot have a car on campus...
