UCR is a quiet school, but it is great!

by jessica1137 , Feb 17 '01
Pros: After the major face-lift, the school is beautiful!
Cons: The school is still not very well-known!
The University of California at Riverside does not receive ample attention compared to the other UC Schools. The reason for this is because it has the smallest population and the athletic programs are not popular at all. Many people do not think of UC...

University of California - Riverside

by kiko_cat , Jun 13 '02
Pros: Small personal classes
Cons: Parking!
I actually just took my last final at U.C.R. this week so now I can write something about the campus that I have grown so attached to and that has become almost a home to me certain quarters because I was there so much. The campus helped me meet new...

The Good, bad, and the ugly

by ucr_ucb , Jun 04 '03
Pros: People, environment, away from city-life (can be good or bad), class ratio, and professors
Cons: People, location, weather, academic enrichment/opportunity, opportunities after graduation, administration
I feel I am qualified to write a review for this school. I have been at this school (UCR) for a full two years and will be transferring next year. This guide is to set as an informative guide to hopefully help you decide if you want to come here....

Dorm life in not all it is cracked up to be!

by jessica1137 , Sep 19 '00
Pros: Big rooms, nice bathrooms, nice facilities for students
Cons: Bad Resident Assistants
The Aberdeen & Inverness Dormitory is a pleasant place to live because the residents are open and like to socialize. When a new student comes to the school, it helps to be living in an A&I hall because your hallmates become your family.

On Campus Entertainment - how to make it better

by ms_block , May 05 '00
Pros: Many free activities
Cons: More student involvement (as volunteers or as audience) is needed
ASPB, the Association of Student Programs Board, provides much of the student entertainment on the Riverside Campus. I was involved with this group during my senior year of college. My title was assistant director of marketing.

Right away I...

UCR - a great school

by MyThreeSons , Feb 07 '00
Pros: strong academic, easily affordable
Cons: not a college town, no football, parking
My experience as an undergraduate was atypical in a couple of respects. I was slightly older than the typical freshman (mid-20's) and I worked full-time as a travel agent throughout my undergraduate years. So I wasn't exactly plugged into the college...

UCR.. excellent choice

by mouseonmars , Jun 23 '01
Pros: Friendly instructors (most), attractive campus, low cost
Cons: Parking, construction
Being a computer science major I will make references to some of the services offered to CS and CE majors, but otherwise everything applies to all students. UCR has a beautiful campus. However, there is currently large amounts of construction occurring,...

Get Involved

by VNM317 , Sep 04 '00
Pros: many organizations to join, people are very friendly
Cons: city of riverside needs more night clubs and "hang-out" spots
Most people complain about UCR's social life. They argue that Riverside is a boring city so therefore, UCR is also boring. Well, I am here to tell you that this is not true.

Some malls that are near the university are the Ontario Mills and...

UCR CSA

by steadyillin , Jul 30 '00
Pros: prominent organization
Cons: ....
I joined the UCR Chinese Students Association during my freshman year and remained on staff for two consecutive years. UCR has a sizable Asian Pacific population (more than 50% of the student body is API), and as a result 3 major API student clubs...

The Invisible University of California

by maxshroom , Jan 26 '00
Pros: Small campus, Good Facilities, Not as bad as everyone thinks
Cons: Parking, Dorms, Dorm Food, No Football team.
Alright coming from the San Luis Obispo, Ca county I was not interested in moving to Souther California to attend college. But the way it worked out, I cannot choose the location of a school and thus I have enrolled in UC Riverside. Now the way it goes...

U.C. Riverside

by buggirl , Feb 02 '00
Pros: small, accessible professors, great weather
Cons: smog, lack of things to do in Riverside
I am a third year graduate student at U.C. Riverside. Like many other people here, I had never heard of Riverside until I started looking at graduate programs. As it turns out, this littlest of the U.C. schools has some of the finest graduate and...

varies

by steadyillin , Jul 30 '00
Pros: read my review
Cons: ''
Even though a third building is being constructed, up to now, UC Riverside has only had two dorm buildings to house its students. The first is called Aberdeen Inverness (A&I). The second, called Lothian, is divided into an East and West, and trust...

The difference of UC Riverside

by Pixie811 , Oct 08 '00
Pros: Great place to learn
Cons: Bad Parking and Large Classes
I started off my college experience at my local community college. I transferred to UC Riverside 2 quarters ago and have noticed a few big differences.

While at the community college, I made a lot of friends. Yes, in general, they were all...

U.C.R., the hidden treasure

by darthmary , Apr 27 '00
Pros: small size, but not small on education
Cons: Riverside is a pretty dead town
I found U.C.R. by accident, when talking with an academic counselor. He said I didn't have the GPA or grades to get into the two stellar campuses, Berkeley or L.A. Not even good enough to get into UC Santa Barbara. I wanted to go to the smallest...

The not so small UC

by meehchelle110 , Jul 10 '00
Pros: private university feel, public university price
Cons: not much recognition relative to other UC's, expansion of campus
The University of California, Riverside is a small public university (with a student population of around 11,000) that is currently trying to spread its wings in order to compete with the already overcrowded University of California system. In my two...
