Pros: Quiet, beautiful, historically interesting Cons: Anti-social, lonely, a little from campus center
I have lived in Manzanita Hall for the past year and a half and it has been my experience that if you are looking for an all-women's dorm, with an emphasis on studies, this is the place to go. Since it is over 100 years-old, there is more history to it...

Pros: Small classes, great faculty Cons: Only 52 taken a year, so it's hard to get in!
The University of Nevada School of Medicine is a great place to learn medicine. In case you don't already know, it's a small school. They take 52 students a year. There are only a few schools in the country that take fewer that that!
Going...

Pros: Classes at the time YOU want Cons: Not a degree program yet
If you're too busy to take classes on campus, you can take them through Independent Study by Correspondence. They have web-based http://www.dce.unr.edu/istudy and print-based courses, over 100 in over 20 subject areas.
Independent Study by...

Pros: campus, faculty Cons: few (maybe housing)
I'm a graduate from UNR twice, and my wife is a graduate also. I graduated in 1994 with a B.S. in Pre-Med, 1999 from the medical school with my M.D., and my wife graduated in 1997 with a B.S.N. (Nursing). I think we both had an excellent educational...

Pros: I don't HAVE to go there, so I don't Cons: Food, service, and quality have all gone downhill fast
The food service when Marriott ran Cafe 10-0-1 was MUCH better!!! The arrangement of the food buffett itself was easier to access, and there was a bigger choice of items. Now, the cold cuts only have one or two choices, but they spread them out over a...

Pros: Good school, beautiful campus, Lake Tahoe 50 minutes away Cons: PARKING SUCKS, and so does the bureaucracy.
Don't let the Marketing Department catch you hyphenating our school, they throw fits. That's the University of Nevada COMMA Reno.
UNR as everybody else but the Marketing Department calls it is a beautiful school. The quad area of the campus...

Pros: Beautiful grounds and historic buildings Cons: Usually too crowded!
I got the chance to walk around on campus not too long ago, and whenever I get the chance to do that, I'm reminded of what a beautiful campus we enjoy. When I have to run errands on campus, I always try to circle around Manzanita Lake, through the quad,...

Pros: nice atmosphere, knowledgable professors, diverse curriculum Cons: foreign language requirement, student advising
Since I grew up in the Bay Area, it was assumed that I would attend either a UC (University of California) or CSU (California State University) after high school. Frankly, my grades were not high enough for me to get accepted to a UC. I could have...

Pros: Lake View Cons: Extreme gas
The 1999 through 2000 school year was my first experience with the UNR food program. I must say that I love the way it is set up. Meal plans consist of a certain number of meals that can be used at the Dinning commons plus a limited amount of cash that...

Pros: Great engineering and journalism schools, others are significantly above average Cons: Many underfunded programs could be great with the right cash.
The University of Nevada, Reno, is an oft-overlooked school in Northern Nevada. It has to live in the collective shadows of California's higher education system.
While the student body is a times homogenized, the University has a diverse...

Pros: Excellent faculty and curriculum Cons: Needs more faculty
The Reynolds School of Journalism is an outstanding academic unit. I am very pleased by the individualized attention I receive from faculty. They are knowledgeable, professional, and very helpful. Because the School is one of the smaller academic...
