Pros: Great education, great athletics, awesome atmosphere, a fun place to be. Cons: Classes can be too big.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. What do you think of when you hear those words? As a student, I think of walks through a beautiful campus, a great athletic program, an awesome institution of higher learning where education is highly ...

Pros: Deserves the rankings and reputation Cons: Classes are a little too big
Having attending two of the top public schools in the nation (Air Force Academy and UNC-Chapel Hill), I think that I have a unique qualification in passing judgement on this institution, at least for its academics.
I am graduating in July of...

Pros: On campus housing is not only convenient, but provides a great experience no other place could provide. The amenities are great and there are many activities planned to meet people. Cons: As with any dormitory, you do not have as much space as most people have at home. Also, there are no on campus apartments, which many campuses have.
As a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I have had first hand experience with campus housing.
Upon entering my freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill, I elected to move into the private dorms just north of the campus called...

Pros: It's huge Cons: Nothing that a typical student can't handle
For some reason, I suddenly felt my heart swell up with pride for my college today, around 12:56 P.M. Why, acinom, you ask? Well, exactly that minute today, I officially quit the school paper--the Daily Tar Heel--the black hole into which I sank one...

Pros: nice community, research triangle benefits, good reputation Cons: business-like manner rather than graduate school atmosphere, lack of debate
They say visiting a department is the best way to tell if it's right for you--you get a sense of atmosphere that you can't get from reading the review books. Last year I visited several departments of sociology, including Chapel Hill, to choose where I...

Pros: There are a lot of different sports at Carolina. Cons: Only a couple of them get the attention they deserve.
I am surprised at the dearth of opinions about UNC-CH's athletic department. I mean, Carolina is well-renowned for its academic prowess, but what about athletics? Come on now! I could sit here and rattle off a list of famous alumni of Carolina's...

Pros: best buy, beautiful area, builds a well rounded person Cons: some phony people, bureaucracy
Coming out of high school, I was being highly recruited by many schools across the nation. It came down to UNC and Stanford. Many people did not understand why I chose UNC over a higher ranked school. This was because of the school's atmosphere. I have...

Pros: Very diverse, intellectual yet not "stuffy" atmosphere, open-minded with lots to do! Cons: NC summers! Ugh! Might be "too large" for some.
When I think back to the four and a half years (stayed that extra semester to earn a double-major) at UNC, I still just have to smile. And when I go back to visit (quite a few of my friends never made it out of Chapel Hill upon graduation) I always feel...

Pros: Almost Everything Cons: Some Javascript errors, may be my computer
Let me say up front that if I find a place this review actually fits, I'll move it. This is as close as I can come for the goheels.com web site.
According to a large disclaimer at the tope of the home page "Never has been, never will be...

Pros: Reputation,Price,Nice town, Sports, Good Education Cons: Liberal, Large
The University of North Carolina is where affordable college education was born. This is the first University to be funded by the state. The school has a rich history that makes alumni proud.
Admissions to Chapel Hill are competitive. It...

Pros: Close to main part of campus, all girls, nice common areas Cons: RA's can get big-headed
I lived in Cobb Dorm for all 4 years of my college life. By living there I was able to get through the four years without having a car. I lived in all housing situations. I was in a quad as a freshman, not a recommended situation. The room was too...

Pros: Beautiful campus, friendly people, many resources available, quality education, reputable university Cons: Expensive out-of-state tuition, not enough men, hard to meet people
I just transferred here from a community college in Oakland, CA. Talk about culture shock! Things are different here, so West Coasters, beware. I'm trying to give UNC a fair chance, so I'll tell the good first, then I'll move on to explain some of the...

Pros: You should get an A Cons: You might get bored
UNC Chapel Hill is an outstanding school. I was highly challenged inside my major, but the electives and core classes largely left much to be desired. Therefore, with this review, I will provide a short list classes at Carolina that were easy for me...

Pros: Good people, hot girls, tons of alcohol and its easy to find a party. Cons: Takes a while to realize that school work is more important than beer.
Well, here I am, sitting in my dorm room, beer in hand, procrastinating on a paper that comprises 40% of my final grade. I was sitting here, looking back on this semester's experiences and something occurred to me. I don't remember any events from...

Pros: nothing but fun Cons: at times, too much fun
Since graduating from UNC in 1994, I have come to realize that I spent far too much time worrying about the next party and not enough time engaging in my education. It's easy at this school to get carried away in the social scene and forget why you're...
