Pros: Education, Athletics, Beautiful Eugene, Term schedule, Abundance of Activities/clubs Cons: Lack of Diversity, Large lower division classes, Small dorm rooms
The University of Oregon is an excellent public school. Most professors care about their students and because it is a big school you control the quality of education that you receive. We are known for our business, journalism, and education programs, but ...

Pros: Location, Amenities, Rooms, People Cons: Oldest building still in use as a residence hall
I have lived in Carson for over two years, and it is my favorite hall on campus. Carson Hall is the closest hall to the center of campus, and is the center of a lot of activity for surrounding residence halls as well. The rooms are great, and all this...

Pros: Difficult to get into, not too hard after that Cons: Cost (overseas study)
I graduated from the University of Oregon International Studies Program in the spring of 1999 and I have to admit, I had fun. I emphasized in International Law and Diplomacy, with a regional emphasis on East Asia, Japan in particular. I know, it sounds...

Pros: Easy, close to everything, best way to make friends Cons: Can be noisy, cramps some people's style
...if you go in with the right attitude! I have lived in the UO Residence halls for six years, both as an undergrad and as a grad student. In that time I have lived in a variety of situations and halls. I have had a blast here, but I know that there...

Pros: great times, great friends, great place! Cons: absolutely none!
Every time I go back to see a football game, or really just to visit Eugene in general, I am immediately flooded with a rush of wonderful memories of my time at the University of Oregon. Although it sounds clichè to say it, that place gave me some of...

Pros: Top notch professors, course study and library. Cons: What can I say...it rains there.
When I was looking into prospective Universities I looked at Harvard <for it's name>, Portland State University <as I was already attending that school during my senior year> Oregon State University, Pepperdine, University of Southern...

Pros: strong academics, small classes Cons: increasing class sizes, difficulty in finishing in 4 years.
Personally, the UO Honors College program surprised me. I originally attended the school as a general admission student -- I didn't even know the program existed until I reached campus and started hanging out with the people in the dorms that I found...

Pros: You get placed with like-minded students Cons: Why can't we pick a specific building?
Many students who come to the UO want to know which hall they are going to live in. If you are an incoming student, the answer is… it depends.
Incoming students (generally freshmen and transfer students) do not pick a specific building to...

Pros: great faculty, low cost of living, friendly city and campus population Cons: not much to do after classes if you're not 21+
After graduating high school, I spent the summer getting ready for my first year at college. The college I went to was University of Oregon. Though I only spent two years there, I feel those two years were some of the most fulfulling of my life so far....

Pros: Beautiful campus, solid academic programs, great activities, Civil War game, oh-so-dang-much more. Cons: Eugene isn't a hub of urban activity, although you can always find something to do.
The University of Oregon at Eugene is a wonderful place to attend school. This section of western Oregon is beautiful year-round, and Eugene itself certainly appeals to people looking for a good college-town atmosphere.
Academically, UO is a...

Pros: variety of sports, anyone can play Cons: sometimes too competitive
The Recreation and Intramural program at the University of Oregon is top notch. I was a part of it as a player for my three years as a student at the school and the last two years as an official. I played indoor and outdoor soccer and basketball on...

Pros: reliable and individualized Cons: sometimes have to wait a while to speak with counselors
The thing that impressed me most about the University of Oregon's financial aid program, and its administration in general, was that it was efficient and predictable. In other words, the financial aid office could tell you far in advance when a check...

Pros: Friends for life. Cons: Randoms answering the phone when mom calls to check up on you..
Everyone knows that the dorms are a toss up. It's kind of small, and the food is always the same, there is always a crazy neighbor that just won't stop blaring Bob Marley over the courtyard when you are studying for finals, but for the freshman...

Pros: beautiful campus, good-sized student population, plenty to do Cons: rain, rain, and more rain
Ahh, the University of Oregon--how varied and complex my opinions of thee are! I will say, on your behalf, old friend UofO, that you were good to me, after all. You enabled me to fail miserably or rise in a gunsmoke of success according to my...

Pros: Great for returning students. Cons: Expensive.
I love the University of Oregon! I was a Duck long before they started having winning seasons!
But for the purpose of this recommendation, I'd like to address one specific issue of the campus experience - returning students!
I...
