Pros: housing, political activism, Foss Hill, no meal plan after frosh year, study abroad office Cons: some students are too sensitive and lazy, Middletown, lack of party scene, classes not great
I wrote a review of Wesleyan University during the fall of my freshman year (1999) that was titled, "Wesleyan Rules!" I was living away from home for the first time and loving every aspect of college life. Since then, I have grown to see some of the ...

Pros: Diverse Student Body, Superior Education Cons: Don't go there if you want a vocational education
I attended an extremely conservative all-male prep school. In late 1983, I met with the school's college advisor to discuss the universities to which I would apply for admission. When I announced that Wesleyan was my first choice, the advisor leaned over...

Pros: Variety of options, ResLife is pretty good about putting you in one of your top three choices. Cons: The descriptions in the acceptance packet don't really tell the whole story of what it is like to live in these places.
So you've been accepted to Wesleyan -- congratulations! I love it here, and I am sure you will, too. In your acceptance packet you got that housing form, where they ask you to rank the housing options in order of your preferance. Only problem is,...

Pros: Freaky people, Dorms, Parties Cons: Freaky people, Food
I recently visited Wesleyan on an official overnight visit for football. I stayed in the Clark dormitory building. This is a dorm only for freshman and all of the rooms are suite style rooms. The rooms were terrific they were roomy and ideal for...

Pros: lots of very friendly people, good parties and social opportunities Cons: occasional pretentious jerks
I'm a second semester sophomore right now at Wesleyan, and the social life here has been really really good to me. Beginning my freshman year with their outdoor orientation program, I began to forge lasting relationships to people. A lot of the friends I...

Pros: (too) many interesting classes, good discussions in class Cons: registration for courses can be a hassle, boring non-science major classes
I'm a second semester sophomore at Wes right now, and I've been fairly happy with the general academics of the school. I definitely have issues with some departments and specific professors, but I've also been very happy with the majority of my courses...

Pros: A lot of theater going up every week, friendly theater community. Cons: Not enough performance spaces.
The strength of Wesleyan theater, both as an academic department and an extra-curricular, is what drew me to Wesleyan in the first place. Now a second year student, I have not been disappointed.
Theater at Wesleyan is divided into two...

Pros: Lots of lunch choices, pretty good about special needs. Cons: Minimal options during dinner, all facilities are always too crowded.
Freshman at Wesleyan will eat a majority of their meals at Mocon, a classic cafeteria with predictable fare: pasta, saladbar, grilled cheese, veggieburgers, sandwiches, sodas, coffe, cereal, ice cream, etc. However, Mocon does have some high points....

Pros: Great options. Cons: The Lottery is aweful and stressful and makes no sense.
Wesleyan has some of the best housing options of any school around, but the system, the so-called "Housing Lottery," is one of the most horrible and torturous processes I could imagine.
First the options. Freshman and most...

Pros: active and engaged students, strong intellectual life Cons: turgid administration
Every private liberal arts institution in the northeast tends to attract the same sorts of people. Lots of upper-middle class kids, mostly white, and from the suburbs of New Jersey, New York, and Boston. Don't kid yourself that there is so much of a...

Pros: cool people, tons of events Cons: administration, finaid, food service
I've been here for nearly 4 years and I love it. To be honest, it took me
a while to get used to the school at the beginning, coming from a homogeneous and conservative society. When I found out how popular pot-smoking was my frosh year, I almost...

Pros: I can't think of one Cons: boring town, students all try too hard to be PC, not enough classes
Yes, I did attend Wesleyan University and for four years, which I feel gives me the right to say what I am about to say, this school was easily one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Why? 1.) When everyone has green hair, then everyone looks the same....

Pros: Diverse, small, good for Liberal Arts Cons: bad food.
I love it here.
My observation is that other schools aren't as dedicated to its undergraduates as it is to its graduate school students. In these schools, all the good resources are reserved for other people and faculty members teach classes...

Pros: strong academics Cons: middletown, ct
Wesleyan is a unique, well-respected college that gives its undergraduate students a lot of attention from professors.
Granted each person's experience here will differ depending on his/her background, interests, friends and classes, but that's...

Pros: academics, students Cons: location
Are you brilliant, but also creative and energetic? Are you studious, but not nerdy? Are you ambitious but stress-free? Do you want an education the quality of Harvard without all those pesky nervous breakdowns and suicides? Did you get 1500 on your...
