Pros:excellent, caring school with a broad range of courses
Cons:small, and (this may be a con!) all women
I would like to express my opinion of the academics at Wilson from a years-later perspective. Perhaps the courses are not the same, but I have reason to believe that my alma mater has kept her goal of striving for academic excellence. I've kept in touch with the Alumnae Office, visited several times, and was involved with the One-Plus-One Program. In fact, a former-student-turned colleague of mine was a graduate under that program.
My education at Wilson was excellent. When my students (I teach Latin and German) today say, "Frau, you're so smart," I always say, "I had a good education." Wilson gave me that. A small, liberal arts school offers personal attention (there were two of us and Dr. Hicks in my Greek 202 course) and a variety of experiences. In addition to my languages, I took distribution courses in all other fields. Perhaps these were "for non-majors," but they certainly gave me a broad base of knowledge.
When I suggest schools to my students today, I tell them what Wilson has done for me.
