Staying At Home Isn't so Bad...

There are normally three ways that I will spend any of my breaks--either at home with my family, with my friends, or both. Break is a wonderful thing to have after rigorous learning periods. I tend to look forward to break, but then while on break I'll wish I was back at school with my friends. However, how much I miss school really depends on what I plan to do at home and how I disperse my time.

As a college student, I am not very wealthy at all. To say it plainly, sometimes us college students can barely afford a ride home. Once I am home, however, I tend to want to spend some time with my family and all the remaining time I try to spend with my friends at home, reaffirming past friendships and reminiscing. When I'm out with my friends we can go hang out at the mall or at our old high school, two events where it is possible that money need not be involved. Sure I wish I could be on vacation some where outside of my state of California, but if I can't be, I'd want to spend the kick back time that I have with the people I care about the most. Just spending time with them is vacation enough.

Taking time off for yourself during a break is essential too. Normally at school, surrounded by tons of people, it's nice to get a breath of fresh air to yourself sometimes. All the drama and gossip can take a second place to the time you need to rejuvenate your own body and mind. Once you go back to school, it'll be hard to be able to find time to yourself so break is a good time to catch up on everything you've wanted to do but couldn't while in school. For me, taking a nice stroll around the neighborhood helps clear my mind and gear me up for yet another quarter of school.

So remember, if you can't go anywhere, don't fret. Stay at home and you're bound to find something to do that'll relax you. Being on break doesn't mean you have to spend more money or be somewhere else. Being on break means a time of relaxation before going back to the day to day toils of school life.
