A Little Love From HomeFeb 08 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I remember the day my daughter went away to college. It was a happy day for all of us until it was time for me to return home. I cried as though she was a very long way from home. She really wasn't, only a three-hour drive from my house to the entrance of the University. This was my youngest daughter, my baby who had never stayed away from home alone for more than her summer participation in the Upward Bound program. Then she was only ten minutes from home. While she was in college, I would send her a care package at least once a month. Other family members would also send care packages and money often while she was in college. You may want to know what a college student needs while they are in school. Every student appreciates personal items such as, toothpaste, soap, hair care products and even though they are on a meal plan, food is always needed for snacks while studying and always money is a much needed necessity. A few of the gifts I included in care packages to my daughter were: Personal items for daily hygiene Post cards to write home Stamped envelopes for more detailed correspondence to family and friends Boxed snacks such as cookies, canned puddings and canned fruit An occasional new item of clothing Money: All college students need money. Every month I would send her incidental money as did her grandparents and other family members. When my daughter was in college, calling cards had not been invented, therefore every month our telephone bill was a bit expensive. Surprise packages from home mean a lot to college students. If you don't have a child in college and want to put a smile on a relative or the child of a friend who is in college send him/her a care package. It doesn't have to be a large box, but a small gift will be fine. Make a college student happy send a care package soon. |
