START EARLY

The best advice I can give is start looking early and book early. The earlier the better because it will be cheaper.

Beware of traps. Many people recommend that you do not use a "package deal" but a majority of college students do and so did I. Picking a good tour company is key. The horror stories about them going out of business before the flight or while in Cancun are true. I met someone it happened to and they were none too happy. Reputability is key and the best way to find a respectable company is to search online, check out websites, check out testimonials and ask around from people who have gone. I used EStudent Travel.com - a service MTV used the summer I went and now is used by the USA gameshows Friends or Lovers and Crush.

Are the package deals worth it? In my opinion - YES!!! You can find a hotel in Cancun on your own and your own airfare and your own way into clubs, but it's all about convenience. You are guarenteed to be staying in a place full of college students, on a plane with other partiers and in the clubs with your group of people. I had free drinking starting everyday at 11 am until 4am. These are deals you can't find on your own a lot of the time. You'll end up with 50 wrist bands but it's worth it. You'll always have options of where to go for free and it's worth it to check out a few other clubs you might have to pay to get into for the night too. The package deals also include tour reps...so important because they know their way around and can help you any time of the day or night. Cancun ethics aren't always the greatest around spring break time and these reps will help you with over booked hotel fiascos and missing wristband mysteries and the guys are usually pretty cute too. You also end up with free souvenirs- I left with like 4 tshirts and cups and pens and more because of my package deal. The package deal also includes food coupons and at least with my company I had two meals a day and options a plenty. I was never hungry and never got sick either.

Biggest Waste of Money- The Booze Cruise- the foods not that good, the booze were not plentiful and the wild party games were lame at best. Most people I went with left early- the worst evening of our whole spring break week. Don't bother!!!!

The more people you include in your trip the better. Not only will it be cheaper but the more people the safer you are and you'll always find someone who will do something with you. I went with 5 people and that was perfect but more would have been better too.

So in closing plan early, check what you get with your package and the reputation of your company and make sure to keep on your tour company's ass...we didn't get our tickets until last minute. The travel rep knew all of us and was calling us to make sure we got everything - so don't be afraid to hound them. I spent total $1000 in Cancun- package deal and spending money. I didn't stay in the best hotel or the worst - not that I was there much anyway. I know people who spent more but they had bad package deals...so do your research and it should all be okay in the end and you'll have the time of you life!
