Just don't mix soap and cookies.Feb 11 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I totally agree with Mooncries' opinion on care packages! She lists an excellent assortment of both necessities plus the fun stuff and I don't want to waste both your and my time by basically writing the same opinion. However, I do have to make one point here. My mom sent the best care packages. You never knew what to expect but the stuff was always welcome and there was always something fun and frivolous. The BEST part of her care package was always the homebacked cookies, sometime two or three different types. If I was cutting back on food I'd freeze them and use them as occasional treats or I could use them to trade for other necessities. Once though, my mom sent both Caress soap and cookies in the same package. Believe me, biting into that first cookie was like biting into a bar of soap. The scent had migrated through the soap box and through the plastic of the cookie bag and ruined 6 dozen chocolate chip cookies. I could have cried. Needless to say, it was such an unpleasant experience that I never used Caress Soap anymore either. So, send those care packages but be aware of isolating, and I mean isolating, anything scented (be it soap, candles, potpourri) from food items. Maybe buy some plastic storage containers to ship the food in (your college student will always be able to use those as well) and triple bag the scented stuff. |
