Get paid WHILE you learnMar 30 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I have found that one of the easiest ways to make some extra cash during class time is to take notes for one of the many online note providers. I currently take notes for Versity.com, however there are many other sites that provide the same service--one being studentu.com. While I was at first leery of a company that offered hundreds of dollars for simply taking notes and posting them on the internet, I have found my experience with Versity to be rewarding, both intellectually and economically. The per-class amount that Versity pays you varies from school to school and from class to class. I am currently paid $8/hr for my class, longer classes do receive more money because of the extra time. Versity does have some requirements -- notes must be posted in at least 24 hours after each class, plagiarism of the teacher's direct words is NOT permitted, and notes are audited for quality. However, putting course material into your own words directly after class is a great way to review notes. I have found myself taking better notes (and actually LEARNING from them--theres a thought) than ever before. The only truly negative thing about Versity is the process of submitting notes. While I am impressed with the system they use, their diagram-drawing tools and text editors are slower and more difficult to use than the ones I have on my computer. It is somewhat frustrating to have to draw bad diagrams when I know I could draw far better ones with Paint Shop Pro, but it doesn't make any difference in how much you get paid. As for payment, I have received all of my biweekly paychecks on time so far, and they have all cleared. Versity also has incentive bonuses for note quality and continuity which encourage good notes and improvement in notetaking. While Versity may not be a true part-time job, it is an excellent way for a college student to make some extra spending money while getting studying done as well.  |
