Relationships are great, but focus on school!Nov 02 '00 Write an essay on this topic.Throughout high school I did not worry much with dating. I was more likely to go out with a large group of friends on a Friday night than just one girl. It was more fun that way for me, so I never really had a "steady" girlfriend. I assumed I would meet "the one" when I got to college anyway, so why bother looking in high school? As it turns out, my first year of college was spent much like my high school years - group dates. I had a blast, but then during the first semester of my second year I met a girl, and we began to get serious. Now this is a totally great thing, and we have a blast, but let me tell you how easy it was to ignore my schoolwork and just hang out with her instead. You are in colege for an education, not just for a future mate. Sure, you will likely meet your future mate in college, but not always is the case so don't spend too much time looking for him/her. You are there for an education, a learning experience, not necessarily to hang out and have fun, although those are both great aspects of college life. If you spend too much time on the fun stuff, you will miss the education part. Maybe that is why we have ignorant people in important jobs? Studying and homework come before watching a movie with him/her. I have learned this the hard way. Of course I would rather sit and watch Tv or talk to my girlfriend, but I've got a paper due tomorrow that I've put off until the last night. It is not wise of me to wait until 2 AM to start on it, so I better just face reality and spend one night away from her. I fel into this trap of not studying and so did she, so now we've suffered grade-wise because of it and are on our way to fixing the situation. Homework and studies come before writing Epinions, checking your earnings, and seeing if income share has been distributed. Ha ha, I just had to throw that one in. I'm glad I have figured out this stuff early on in my college career, before my classes start getting really tough. I don't like that I can't always do what I want to do, but isn't that basically what life is all about? Some things just have to be done, and right now my school work and studies should be my focus, not my girlfriend. It is important to keep things in order and prioritize, otherwise you will find yourself with a low GPA and even on probation for a semester. |
