College life with roommatesJan 27 '00 (Updated Jan 29 '00) Write an essay on this topic.I've had two very different experiences with roommates. As a freshman, I came in the summer because they paid for me to come so I decided I would do it. Anyway, my first roommate was very cool. We would split and share anything that the other one wanted. If he needed some money, I'd give it to him knowing I would get it back. If I needed something, he would give it to me. That was the summer, and this is now. I am now living with one of the worst roommates imaginable. First of all, in the beginning of the semester, he would drop his drawers anytime he felt like dropping them. He even had the nerve to drop them while I had a friend in there with me. Another thing that makes him a bad roommate is that he shows no courtesy or respect to other people. An example of this is while I am a asleep, and don't have class until three hours later, he would slam his drawers and make any kind of noise you could in a college dorm. There are several other things he does in this room that he shouldn't be doing, which I won't explain because of respect and embarrassment from him. My second roommate also never bought any drinks or food, but he would always be willing to eat or drink it all. At the end of the semester, I found something very disgusting on his wall, and I kindly asked him to clean it off because I would rather not see that every morning. He didn't do it. He also shows no respect to me in that he opens up my drawers to find what he needs. In conclusion, I went from good roommate to bad in a matter of weeks. So, for all of you who are going to go to college, going now, or are just getting a new roommate, I believe that there should be good communication between the both of you or your roommate could end up like mine. |
