A = awesome -- Some of the keys to succeeding in College AcademicsDec 20 '00 (Updated Aug 14 '01) Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line In order to succeed, you just need to make sure that 1. you want to, and that 2. you are using the right methods. Academics are the backbone of any school or institution. The key to getting students to have good academics is to make them happy. With that said you have to take into consideration just what it is that makes people happy. What makes me happy? Well that is easy. It makes me happy to get good grades. But I guess it comes down to how do you get good grades at a University level. In order to get good grades on the University level, the simple solution is to "just put your mind to it." The problem with this is also that you must be able to "put your mind to it." You have to want to study, you have to want to go to class, and you have to want to do your homework. If it isn't the case that you want to do these things, then coming up with good grades isn't going to be a very easy task in the slightest. I sometimes have a tough time getting myself motivated enough to go to all my classes, and there are a million other things I would rather be doing at any given time other than homework. Homework stands in the way of going to a party, or seeing a movie, or going out to play some basketball. In order to survive, a person must attain a focus on a specific goal. The goals that people set for themselves at college don't have to be that difficult either. If someone wants to set there mind to getting the good grades, then they must be willing to set schedules for themselves. The key is to plan ahead and figure out just when you will have the time to study and/or have fun. Fun is also a key though, because if you can't find the time to have fun, then you are going to run the risk of suffering a major burn-out. Academics can't be the only thing that college students focus on. If someone sits down and dedicates their life to getting all A's and nothing else, that person is not going to be prepared for the real world. A person must be willing to accept that sometimes you have to experience life, go to a football game, and have some fun. Academics are important at college, but they aren't the only thing. |
