| Error44's Full Review: Stonehill College |
My roommate and I watched a large spider slowly die in the light fixture of our room in Benaglia Hall at Stonehill College. We regularly saw about 3 or 4 insects a day during our stay. I was once attacked by a half-dollar sized spider while in the bathroom. I shot it with a rifle. Couple shots and it was dead. Our room was apparently the ladybug hangout, as I killed about three a week. Place a pizza on the floor and watch the tiny ants devour it in a matter of minutes.
Kidding aside (although there are bugs a plenty, which is off-putting), Benaglia is a quiet dorm and this facilitates studying. Not many social activities take place here, unless you invite friends of your own over for a drink or two. Of course, if you are living in Benaglia with your friends, it is a different matter entirely.
Benaglia offers rooms for students of all years, freshman to senior. Rooms are fairly spacious, even for triples; my neighbors in a triple had plenty of room for three desks and computers, plus a large couch and television.
Benaglia is in a decent location on campus: short walk to cafeteria and most classroom buildings. The library is a bit of hike, but the dorm is quiet enough to study. One of the major problems with the dorm is the lack of soundproof walls. This may seem like nitpicking, but I'd rather not have my neighbors hear every word I say and vice versa.
Generally, Benaglia is a nice place to live, but the number of insects I found was sickening. It is in a nice area of campus despite the lack of social activity. For incoming freshmen, I would recommend living elsewhere, since the seclusion of the dorm might hinder friend-making. But for students looking for what it offers, Benaglia is a fine dorm.
