happiness

when visiting college campuses and deciding what to do in post-high school life, you need to be concerned with your environment, and your education. i think that these two things combined determine your happiness.
it is important to tour the schools you visit, oftentimes the campus tour is very superficial, so i would recommend talking to a student of your prospective major, talking about classes, professors, and their experiences academically and socially. i would try if possible to spend the night in a dorm, with someone you know, or a random, which most colleges can usually accommodate.
another thing that helped me make my decision, was stopping random people and talking to them. it generally showed how friendly, and accepting a campus was if students would take time to talk to you or if they would simply blow you off.
check out the libraries, the dorms, make sure the school is somewhere you can study and have fun. class is not 24-7.
academically, one of the most important things in undergraduate classes is the class size, and the other is whom undergraduate classes are taught by. it seems that freshmen and sophomore classes at most universities are taught in lecture halls containing hundreds of students, but not all colleges are like that, just to me, personal attention is very important.
