Make sure you get a full scholarship

As a student athlete myself , I received a full scholarship. Some of the present athletes today aren't keeping their options open and they are going with the first college that talks to them. One of my mistakes was making a quick decision instead of applying myself to different colleges.

I have seen students drop out because of partial scholarships when the coach would recruit a player and tell him or her this is the deal. A partial scholarship is really saying we will see what you have and maybe keep you if you can fit into our team. A partial scholarship is a little step but not a total commitment , and the student athlete knows that when he or she is playing. Sometimes this type of scholarship will work out for students that are really into their education as much as they are in sports. School isn't for everyone , even though there are counselors everywhere some athletes feel that it's all sports or nothing. I had the same mentality of all sports or nothing my freshman and sophomore years in college. It did change when I saw the opportunity of college and that learning can be almost as entertaining as sports are if you are in a subject you like and can prosper in.

I could have went to a bigger school and I always wondered what it was like to be in a really great educational school like CAL Berkeley , or Stanford but I didn't apply myself. So if you're a senior and think your only route is Junior College or a partial scholarship from a division 1 or 2 school you're wrong , you will never know until you apply.
