ROTCApr 26, 2000 Write an essay on this topic.I used to be in an ROTC program in high school, so I can honestly say that ROTC is a great experience. You can learn how to work as a team with others and do community service projects. I know that ROTC was the only course where we got out of school to visit nursing home residents. We learned a lot from them and they enjoyed talking with us especially the ones who doesn't get any visits. We also did a care program for disabled children where we watched them for their parents. That way the parents could take a break for a little while. You can do a lot of team projects within the class. For example, we learned how to make hot air balloons as a team, play war games and work together to capture the other team's flag, etc. Being in ROTC, shows a potential employer that you can work on a team with others. Another benefit is that you can put troubled students in the class where they can learn respect for others. I have seen quite a few troubled students be made to join ROTC, however, at the end of four years they straightened out and stayed out of trouble. They also stayed out of jail, too. The only drawback is that you have to wear a uniform. However, you only have to wear it for one day a week, but it's hard trying to get it dry cleaned. I think that everyone should join ROTC once. you can learn teamwork, do community service work, exercise, and it can be used to straighten out troubled students. Besides it looks great on a resume. |
