Pros: Excellent coverage Cons: Haven't come across any yet

I'm fairly young and I'm on the road a lot, so my father and I decided I should get a cell phone. He had one through Alltel, so we decided to go there to get mine as well. The plan I got was $39.99 a month with free nights (7PM - 7AM) and weekends with...
***UPDATE*** When I did finally move away and wanted my service discontinued, they insisted that I had a 2 year contract when I KNOW I signed a 1 year contract. They refused to budge and said they had lost all of their paperwork and I had to show them a ...
Pros: Prices are all right for the minutes offered. Cons: Service is poor

Pros: It was cheap, at least it was supposed to be Cons: Got screwed
This is just a warning, a warning about a problem that has occurred, and keeps occurring since I signed up with AllTel cell phone service.
The price was good enough- my wife and I both got phones and 300 minutes every month, all for about $68.00 a...
Pros: Cheap Cons: Can't use when I want to, Can't get responses to mail, Can't change plans

Incredibly long wait times (30 mins), staff can't answer questions, no supervisor is available, when you ask for a supervisor you're simply dumped back into the wait queue. Twice they "lost" my payment when I already had the cleared check back. I had to f ...
Pros: ZERO Cons: Worst Customer Service Ever! High fees!
The HORRID service provided to me by Alltel has inspired me to write again. It has been a while since I have written an epinion, but after getting off the phone with Alltel "customer service" I felt furious, trapped and like I had no where to turn.

Pros: No better or worse than others on phone service Cons: Deceptive (a nice way to say liars and cheats)
I regret that I must write a bad review for Alltel since it is an Arkansas based company and I am from Arkansas. I also know very many people that work for Alltel and its subsidiaries since I am in the computer services industry.
Pros: They offer some good package deals Cons: Your monthly bills are a total mystery
I guess we should have known better. We had Alltel service once before but switched. Then when we did away with cell phones for a while and found what we thought was the best deal with Alltel, we decided to give them another try. Our mistake.

Pros: I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this company. Cons: The worst customer service ever imaginable.
I have been trying to get clarification on a bill that I received from Alltel for 4 months now. I have spoken with over 20 customer service reps. None of the representatives were able to help me. Three of them took my information to so that a...
Pros: If there is anything resembling a PRO at Alltel, I have yet to find it/him/her. Cons: Technical incompetence, pure and simple.
I switched to Alltel for my home PSTN service & cell phones in 2000 as part of a "package deal" through my employer for cell service and 2 home lines with dial-up internet service. Everything worked fine for several years until (1) Alltel withdrew from ...
Pros: few Cons: poor customer service; absurd taxes and fees
AT&T coined the phrase reach out and touch someone, the cellular provider Alltel had no intentions of following suit. For beginners, Alltel's service areas and plans are among the worst in the business. When my family signed up for a plan, they...

Pros: None that I can see. Their customer service is horrible. Avoid at all cost. Cons: They REALLY don't care about the customer and I am generally a very optimistic person.
If you are considering signing a CONTRACT with Alltell for cellular "service", RUN, don't walk away. I can echo almost all negative reviews thus far. They fully expect the customer to honor their end of the SIGNED service agreement yet, when it comes ...

ALLTEL CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MYRTLE BEACH by discountqueen ,Sep 16 '04
Pros: ALLTEL CUSTOMER SERVICE IS WONDERFUL IN MYRTLE BEACH, SC Cons: AS A NEW ALLTEL CUSTOMER, I EXPERIENCED AN EQUIPMENT PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED AN ALTEL PLAN AND PHONE THROUGH AN INTERNET WEBSITE. AFTER ONLY TWO DAYS, I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PHONE (NO SERVICE) AND PHONED THE ALLTEL CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE VERY C0URTEOUS AND TRIED TO BE HELPFUL, BUT THE PHONE WAS STILL ONLY FUNCTIONING PART OF THE TIME. THE PHONE REP. SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE MY PROBLEMS TO THE LOCAL ALLTEL OFFICE IN MYRTLE BEACH. I DID SO, AND HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE AND ATTITUDE OF THE SERVICE REPS.THERE.
I HAVE HAD TO RETURN TWICE, SINCE MY INITIAL VISIT, AND I MUST SAY THAT THEY HAVE DONE EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING - EVEN EXCHANGING THE PHONE FOR A NEW ONE, ON MY LAST VISIT. THE REP. I WORKED WITH, ALSO VOLUNTEERED TO GIVE ME CREDIT FOR THE TIME I WAS UNABLE TO USE THE SERVICE, DUE TO THE EQUIPMENT PROBLEM.
THE MYRTLE BEACH AREA IS NOTORIOUS FOR BAD CELLULAR EXPERIENCES, BOTH WITH SERVICE AND ATTITUDE. I HOPE THAT MY PLEASANT EXPERIENCES CAN GIVE HOPE FOR THE SAME TO OTHERS. IF ALLTEL IS YOUR CELLULAR SERVICE, THEY DO CARE, IN MYRTLE BEACH, SC.!
No problems, service is good by fraleyjl ,Nov 10 '03
Pros: Inexpensive plans, free phones, good service Cons: Phones don't last much longer than contract
I have had some type of cellular phone service on and off for 8 years. We have had Alltel in the past and experienced no problems with the service. They have inexpensive plans, free phones, and fairly good customer service. I recently had to get a new phone since my old phone had been dropped one too many times. Since I was out of contract, I was given the option to purchase a new phone for $29.99 with no activation fee. Although I accrued another 1-year contract, I am pleased since customer service waived shipping and handling and the cost of the phone. The free phones may not have all the bells and whistles many people want, but, for occasional use, they are just fine. My bill is never more than what was promised, so overall Alltel will continue to get my business.
Pros: Always had great cusotmer service when I'm nice to them. Great plans. Cons: Not much
I am amazed by people with their cellphone companies. I just checked ALL reviews of ALL cellphone companies (I had major time today) and ALL of the major ones have a 2 star rating...all of them. The smaller ones have only a 2-3 star rating. In other words, everyone hates their cellphone company and they must all suck on average.
Personally, I have an okay time with Alltel, never had a major issue. I believe you get what you put out, and peoiple who have issues with their cell company need to change their own attitude.
Give me a break Alltel! by myopinionbran ,Feb 16 '05
Pros: It's a great carrier if you like to feel cheated. Cons: I'm afraid of what I've gotten myself into. I'll have to study every bill.
I sign up for an additional phone at $9.00 approx. a month.
My bill increases by over $100.
Give me a break Alltel!
They charged me for a number of additional services I didn't order including text messaging, additional parts, road-side assistance, insurance for my phone ... the list goes on.
And when I called customer service, wouldn't you know they acted like it was my fault!
And when a manager got the bill straight for me she said she had helped me because I was so pleasant on the phone, not because Alltel was totally in the wrong and was obviously trying to cheat a customer out of money.
My advice - if you are stuck with Alltel, review your bills every month so see what they've tried to get past you!
Another alltel unhappy customer by zuee007 ,Sep 11 '06
Pros: None Cons: Terrible customer service hours and no customer care what-so-ever
When my old cell phone contract with alltel ended, I renew another with alltel. All was great when I receive my new phone, until I lost the new phone within a month. Getting hold of customer service took forever and when I get through, it didn't get anywhere. In the end, I decided to pay the early cancellation fee and not have to deal with such bad service ever again.
Pros: None Cons: Very rude and bullish customer service!!
Alltel agent LIED to take advantage of elderly mother when she called to terminate service no longer needed. She had been a loyal Alltel customer for over 10 yrs. Agent convinced Mom to accept new phone at NO CHARGE and NO CHANGE in service or contract and stated she had 30 days to return at no cost.
Bill received 21 days later for $46.79 'equipment fees'. Called Alltel again to terminate, was told to take to local Alltel office to return. Local said NO, been 25 days since receipt of new phone! Called 'customer support' again, was told contract had been renewed for 2 yrs., was binding and rudely said nothing will be changed unless $200. penalty is paid!
This was so-called customer support to a fixed/low income elderly lady who no longer needed a cell phone. All she wanted was to terminate her service after 10 yrs.!
Pros: Good plans (including text messaging plans). Marked improvement in tech support. Cons: NEED HELP IN CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE WORST POSSIBLE WAY !
Coverage fair in general. Pricing is good, especially text messaging (unlimited text messages for $7/month). However if you have to deal with their customer service, especially on billing, they have NO clue what to do. Sends a text message "reminding you" of an overdue bill, which is HIGHLY unprofessional IMHO. Tech support is bad (up from horrible), but it looks like Alltel is trying to improve it. NEEDS HELP IN CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE WORST WAY !
Non-existent customer service by koso_78 ,Jun 11 '04
Pros: NONE Cons: NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, MISREPRESENTATION OF PLAN, SERVICE DROPS OFF CONSTANTLY.
I live in the Rhinelander, Wisconsin area. The customer service representatives in that office act as though it is not their job to help customers and act as though they are being inconvenienced when you ask questions about your plan. They are extremely rude and ignore their customers. They have misrepresented the text messaging plan. The phone drops off constantly.
