Pros: can't think of any Cons: service not consistently available, overcharging for services each month
I have a son with leukemia and I got the regional plan with Alltel so that we could stay in contact. The service has been terrible. It frequently doesn't work when out of the immediate dialing area. Additionally, I have to go in and dispute my bill every...

Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: Spotty coverage, over billing, hidden fees, the worst customer service I have ever had!
My wife and I started our service with ALLTEL two years ago. We thought they had a pretty good deal based on the free phones and minuets packages, boy were we mistaken!
For almost two years now, we have been trying to get ALLTEL to refund...

Pros: I can't think of one. Cons: Poor customer service, rude service, poor quality, change plans on you with mail notice
Forget about closing your account with them. They have a special line for it. I was put on hold for over an hour, then when I said I wanted to close, I was put on hold again, then disconnected. When I finally got someone, they took the information....

I've had a great service experience
by rrgy2k ,Aug 05 '05
Pros: Great reception coverage, shared minutes. Cons: 50% more expensive than my previous contract.
I've been with Alltel for 2 months, after porting through Cingular and Verizon on my way to finding acceptable reception in Williamsburg. Suncom was good in most places. Cingular was bad everywhere. Verizon wasn't too bad in most places, except for my home office (which is important). But Alltel has been absolutely great everywhere, a complete and pleasant surprise.
There were 5 phones and 5 different networks in my path from Suncom to Alltel. Reception is everything, becoming the only thing that matters when you don't have it. It's hard to tell whether problems are being caused by the phone or the network. So when they tell you that you can change your mind for 2 weeks, my advice is to take them up on it by trying out your options!

I think that they could give their customers a little bit more information
by james3014 ,Jul 19 '05
Pros: Service in the Virginia Beach area was alright. Some areas it would drop. Cons: Alltel gives bad information and when they mess up, they won't investigate the issue.
I have been with alltel for a year and a half. I called customer service about a region I was going to. I have free roaming and across america plan. I asked the customer representative if I would be covered. She said if my triangle blinked then I was covered. It was blinking while I was there, so I thought I was all good. Come to find out I wasn't and they smacked me with a 1,145.00 bill. And told me oh you are lying or misunderstood. I know what the woman said. So I still believe that alltel is unreliable.
