Phone Replacement Plans are the WORST
by sefpsu ,Apr 18 '07
Pros: good coverage
Cons: see general views
SERVICE PLANS STINK. They require you to have a 2 year deal, yet when a phone breaks (through absolutely no fault of your own: no water damage, no dropping, etc) they refuse to give you a new phone if you did not purchase the warranty. AND EVEN IF YOU DID, the warranty expires after one year. they gave me 2 options today. 1: buy a new phone full cost 2. buy a discounted phone and renew my contract for another 2 years. I told them that i am not renewing my contract today because in 6 months (when mine expires) i am probably not coming back. They offered no solutions. My feelings are: Why offer a 2 year service plan that you are stuck in (175 to get out i was told) when their phones are NOT built to last? i think it is awful and very very bad business and customer service.

Cingular - Mega corp. with singular vision
by dburke8088 ,Jan 03 '07
Pros: Creative in new ways to sell something.
Cons: Greedy. If you leave, they don't want you back for 2 years.
Got rolled into Cingular from the AT&T merger (Takeover) and all seemed fine until the "New" upgrade for voice mail. This "Upgrade" is another attempt from Cingular to take more money. Seems that to get the voice mail to work, they have to send an update to the SIM chip. But guess what? AT&T SIM chips are locked and don't upgrade. So how do you replace the SIM chip? By changing plans at a higher rate for the same service. Seems that Cingular figured out a way to force merged customers to move to cingular rates that were previously "grandfathered" in from the merger. Tech support won't tell you this and if you go to a store well, they are not known for tech skills. And that's the most positive thing I can say.

Cons: Service is terrible.
Every month there is a problem with my bill. I had text messaging and internet service blocked twice, but they keep charging me for this service even though I never use it! Make sure you carefully review your bill! Also, I set up auto-payment, it was mysteriously removed and they tried to charge me a late fee. I can't wait for my contract date to end. Cingular Services
by anihl8r ,Apr 30 '06
Pros: Good service, nice new phones ava. pretty fast.
Cons: Maybe they have some people needing to be fired in customer service.
Well, from all the reviews I've read,it sounds like Cingular sucks. To be honest,I think everyone needs to read the fine print or service agreements that are posted on their web site. Also, reception isn't always the carriers fault, sometimes phones just suck at reception, the ones I noticed that rate Cingular badly is Sony Ericson and the Motorola V551.If you were to have a RAZR foresay, the ratings are as good as possible.I myself have Cingular and have NEVER had a dropped call saying that service in Salt Lake City, Utah sucks. The only dropped calls were because the phone threw a tizzy and I ended up having to remove the battery and putting it back in and good as new. With customer service have you ever wondered, if maybe what you want doesn't exist,or maybe there's only one solution and they're telling it to you,and we all get frustrated and make mistakes,I've only heard maybe a few hundred reviews out of their network with millions. You just have to take it all and consider it just like anything in life.Think what you want but remember.

Cingular Service's Lack of Support for the Military
by cdrjanderson ,Feb 07 '06
Pros: None
Cons: Customer Service is pathetic.
I am a military officer who was reassigned to an area which didn't carry Cingular Service. After speaking with several customer reps who weren't quite sure of their procedures, I was finally advised to fax my relocation orders with an explanation memo to cancel my services without a fee. I did exactly as I was instructed but continued to receive bills. My attempts at trying to tactfully resolve this with another customer rep and manager turned into a screaming match. It's amazing to me how these uneducated people insist they know more about the military than an 0-5 officer, insisting a deployment is the same thing as a relocation/reassignment. I have had several cell phone services but have never experienced anything like this in my life! The moral of the story is, if you're in the military, stay away from Cingular Service.

by jaymcgrath ,Jan 20 '06
Pros: In-store rep was smart, courteous & helpful.
Cons: Do not trust that equipment they promote is good. Do your own research 1st!
Spent big bucks getting their recommended equipment only to discover that the equipment (Motorolla with the Cingular logo and Cingulars blessing) HAD KNOWN PROBLEMS ! Then, to add insult to injury, when I finally changed phones they charged me a second time INCLUDING a bogus UPDATE service charge. When I attempted to contact national customer support (via telephone) to review these issues I got a patented shut-the-customer-up speech from the Cingular Representative. Very disappointed! I have been a worthy customer with excellent paying habits. You would think they would be smart enough to take good care of excellent customers who would in-turn speak well of their company.

Poor customer service
by lonewolfgi ,Jan 03 '06
Pros: None.
Cons: See review.
Long story very short, Cingular's billing department wasn't properly posting our on-time payments, and suddenly disconnected our service without warning. When I inquired they said they were sorry and they would fix the problem. That "fix" never happened and they disconnected us two more times. I decided to terminate them for lack of contracted service and they attempted to make me pay an early termination fee. I didn't pay the fee, but only after a very long and drawn-out battle with threats of lawsuits. Customer service would put me in continuous "loops" on the phone in order to dodge the real issue of doing the right thing and letting me go without charging me for Cingular's lack of service (Cingular breached an implied contract to provide me a service). Why would I have to pay an early termination fee? They should pay me an early termination fee for their breach of contract. I would never go back, nor recommend Cingular again. I highly recommend Verizon Wireless as an alternative. They have a much wider service area and a more understanding customer service team.

The WORST OF THEM ALL-CINGULAR
by ismi55 ,Dec 20 '05
Pros: None
Cons: Poor reception Non-existent customer service Bad rate plans
This is the first time I have ever written an online review about any company. I have to make sure people know what Cingular is about though.

The WORST company EVER. I was AT&T customer for 5 years after the merger I had to switch to Cingular. After 5 months with Cingular I was fed up. I paid $150.00 to cancel my contract with Cingular and switched to T-Mobile. Cingular's customer service is unacceptable. All they care about is making money. They also have the worse reception ever (the bar has been lowered).Think 10 times before you sign a contract with them. I am very happy with T-Mobile. They have great reception and excellent customer service.

Cingular worst Customer Service out of all carriers
by dchiang ,Dec 05 '05
Pros: Decent coverage around Bay Area
Cons: Customer Service Hold time Customer Support open hours Consistent rate plan changes and inflexibility
Cingular has the worst customer service compared to Sprint and Verizon due to their customer support staff. In order to have any action taken on your account, callers must talk to the managers after discussing with the CSR for over an hour after going through the boilerplate questions.

This particular user is leaving Cingular for T mobile as I have had enough with their inconsistent service, their change in rate plan prices which makes their customers consistently pay more and lock them in for longer terms, and their terrible customer support.

If they are the best service, as a fact, they do not to keep their customers hostage.

Indifferent customer service
by scullycat68 ,Oct 28 '05
Pros: Good service area.
Cons: Negligent Customer Service
I am not one who is easily disgruntled, and in fact it takes quite a few bad experiences to push me over the edge. I was actually thrilled when Cingular bought out AT&T. I didn't have problems with AT&T, it just seemed that Cingular was really cutting edge in the plans and services it offered. I switched to Cingular in December of 2004. I am currently waiting for my THIRD replacement phone from them. Not only is it just frustrating to have to go through that, but they seem to be completely indifferent at the inconvenience. I realize it is technically Motorola's fault that the phone is defective, but it is ultimately the responsibility of Cingular to attend to my service issues. The response I have received from Cingular is just sickening, and certainly makes me feel like an insignificant gnat in their communication empire. Switching providers is such an annoyance, but after the holidays I am definitely going to be doing some research on my options.

Not bad service in city but no signal in rural area
by bearboxer ,Oct 24 '05
Pros: Nationwide plan, number of phones to choose from
Cons: Maps show coverage in areas of Southwest Oklahoma where there is no service.
If I am in town, I can most of the time, get connected. If I travel between towns then I lose signal (even with external antenna) about 2-3 miles out of town. When traveling around the Southwestern part of Oklahoma the maps are greatly over rated. Can have friend with me that has U.S. Cellular and he can talk while I have no service.

The worst customer service EVER!
by snispeaks ,Oct 09 '05
Pros: NONE WHATSOEVER!!!
Cons: Everything we fear of wireless company; from overcharging to down right boarder-line illegal customer policy.
I travelled quite a bit for work; therefore didn't have the time to review Cingular invoices. As a solution, I had my girlfriend to submit payments for me monthly through my online banking account in order to avoid disconnection and/or other Cingular tricks. When I finally had a moment to sit down and review my Cingular invoices, I realized that the company has been charging me an additional $50 every month for the past 14 months, for a service that I cannot use even if I requested. Naturally I called, several times as a matter of fact. Cingular's philosophy is that the company will be more than happy to take your money and sign you up for services that you cannot use, but when it comes to refund, the company cannot refund the money at all! Cingular will take your money (illegally, I might add), but when you have rectified the record with them, Cingular will apologize but KEEP your money. I am currently working with an attorney to resolve this issue with Cingular.

Customer service SUCKS
by jamnbrady ,Sep 23 '05
Pros: None
Cons: Complete lack of customer service. Dishonest too, as no phone has been received by me.
There is just no other way to put it. When my phone broke (due to a faulty hinge) they promised I would receive a new one within "10 - 15" days - they wouldn't even overnight ship one to me, the way AT&T would do before they got bought out. Well, guess what? It has been OVER A MONTH and still no phone. I have called several times in the last 2 weeks and have gotten very incompetent reps - two of them were impossible to understand, they spoke English so poorly. And, yes, they kept running through "the script" even though I kept requesting that we just cut to the chase. One of them told me the phone had been shipped and when I requested the tracking number, I had him repeat it twice. Then I read it back to him to confirm it. Naturally, when I checked with UPS there was no such tracking number. I called Cingular back - twice - and got disconnected - twice. We will probably break our contract to get away from this outfit - their service is incredibly poor.

They will screw you over if you switch plans..
by eddiek101 ,Sep 17 '05
Pros: Free mobile-to-mobile
Cons: Customer service, rates
I was originally using a Cingular GoPhone Pay-As-You-Go, because they had a $29.99 offer for the Nokia 6010 phone.

After I had started using it more than I had anticipated (over $100 in 2 weeks), I had decided to switch over to a plan from them, for $49.99 a month, with 400 minutes and unlimited night and weekends.

I called customer service to change my plan over, which they did. I later discovered that my account had been closed. I called customer service back and told them I had switched plans but my phone was disconnected. They recconnected service. I originally had about $58 in my account balance, but they could only recover half!

I am going to do a credit card chargeback on EVERY charge for Cingular, except for the phone I purchased. This will come back to bite them.

I just purchased a new phone from another carrier. I will not disclose the carrier, because I do not want it to sound like I am attempting to advertise for them, however I will write a review once I have everything set up.

AVOID CINGULAR AT ALL COSTS
by hessiot ,Sep 02 '05
Pros: NONE
Cons: Don't get me started...
A brief recap of my last three months:

Been on the phone with them for 15+ hours (mostly on hold)
Received harassing phone calls at both work and home
Gotten misleading letters in the mail regarding my account

WHY?
Three months ago they overcharged me $740 on my bill (yes, I said $740.00) and have not yet fixed it after 3 months, even though they admit to the mistake. They say, "crediting accounts often takes some time." Three months, really? Why? They sure as hell can charge you in 10 seconds! My phone is turned off now because the credit that hasn't been posted is showing as an overdue balance.

And I'm not the only one - every person I talk to has problems with them. Maybe that's why they have THE WORST customer service rating in the industry.

Cons: They rip me off every chance they can and hope I won't notice.
There bill requires training in order to read. I got a special offer through my work and couldn't find any of the figures I was quoted for several months on any bill. I have spoken with customer service who told me the plan I was on didn't exist in a very sexy voice. I am paying about twice as much as I anticipated. This month they added roadside assistance to my bill and added a fee for each of my three phones for this month and last month. I don't even know what this service is. The phones are for my kids who don't drive. I will cancel this service when my contract terminates. I can't wait.

Cingular ruined AT&T !
by mgould3090 ,Jul 20 '05
Pros: GSM network is great when it works. Best phone choices.
Cons: Lots of dropped calls.
I had been a client of AT&T wireless for about 4 years before this merger with Cingular and didn't have any problems at all (dropped calls, customer service etc.) Since they have merged, the number of dropped calls has gone thru the roof ! And I don't travel anywhere different now vs. then. To make it even more frustrating, lately I will call someone, hear it ringing, and then when someone picks up, the sound on my end cuts out. They can here me fine but I can't hear anything they say. So I hang up and call back and it usually will work. This is the case even on my wifes phone, so I know its not mine. I would say I have an issue on about 1 out of every 4 or 5 calls.

Cingular is the worst
by majorcelluser ,Jun 29 '05
Pros: Ok phones, spotty service
Cons: Lousy, absolutely uncaring and irresponsible customer service.
I've tried several others (Verizon, T-Mobile, Nextel) and Cingular is by far the worst. The phones are ok, the wireless service is spotty at best and the customer service must use prison labor. Time and time again, I get conflicting and erroneous answers from different reps. My account was "accidentally" terminated and then sent to collections because they lost my payment. The bank verified that the check cleared three weeks ago, yet since Cingular could not find it, my account and credit report suffered. One of my many woes with Cingular. Be very careful about switching to Cingular.

FYI, Verizon customer service has stood out. They went out of their way to communicate and help me resolve a billing issue, even after I left for Cingular. What a huge mistake that was.

Counting the days until my time is up...

Raising the bar
by renzo1954 ,Jun 18 '05
Pros: the phone was pretty, and took pictures
Cons: the phone did not work as a phone only as a camera
I had my phone for 2 days and had to disconnect. We had no reception at all while in our home. Thats understandable, what is not was the $393.00 bill we received from Cingular for the 2 days of, I hate to call it service, it took an act of Congress and numerous calls to their office, to have them reduce the bill to $32.76. If my calculations are correct that is $507.78 for 1 month of service. Stay away from Cingular unless you have time to kill.

very disappointed with Cingular wireless service
by anish23 ,Jun 11 '05
Pros: None.
Cons: Dishonest service personnel and horrible customer service provided by Cingular wireless
I signed up with Cingular wireless and every thing was working fine for a while. Later, I was not able to receive any service at my house. At this point, I canceled my service and switched to another provider after speaking with Cingular. It was prior to my one year contract completion however, Cingular agreed that there would be no issues.

A few weeks later I received my last monthly bill and it included a $175.00 early termination fee. I immediately contacted the billing department who told me that I would have to pay the early termination fee. I then asked for a manager and spoke to him for another 10 minutes, he finally agreed to waive the fee.

A few weeks later I received another bill with the same termination fee. I again contacted cingular who told me that they would send me a new bill with the fee removed, however, that was not true. This is still on-going and they are claiming that there are no notes recorded about my conversation with the manager. I would never purchase Cingular wireless and would like to warn everyone about their dishonest customer service personnel

Be Wary of Termination Fees
by idwk ,Jun 01 '05
Pros: None
Cons: They rip you off on termination fees
I had an account with AT&T that I canceled July 2004. I canceled service July 17, 2004 and the end of my billing cycle was July 23, 2004.

As you know, Cingular bought over AT&T. In April 2005 -- 9 months after I canceled service with AT&T -- I received a bill from Cingular stating that I still owed $46.38 for "end of billing cycle" fee!!

This is outragious for 2 reasons:
1 -- My contract was with AT&T and it was settled and closed July 2004
2 -- I canceled my service BEFORE the end of my billing cycle date!

I've been on the phone with multiple agents and supervisors from Cingular -- the last one I talked you actually threatened to send this to a collection agency and screw up my credit report if I don't pay! This is freaking insane!!

I'm filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau...but save yourself the frustration and money and go with another wireless provider.

RipOff
by deltoid ,May 13 '05
Pros: Service Area
Cons: Everything else billing, overcharges, hidden fees, customer service, tech support, actuall "full working" service, reception
Im giving them two stars only for one reason,I didnt have a dead zone while with them. Even at the cabin. The reception was crap, I dont know how many times i heard "can you repeat that" or "what?". the extra 30 bucks that was tacked onto my account every month even though i didnt go over my minutes. The terrible customer service ("please shut off your phone, turn it back on and then call us") okay yeah.. that may of worked the first time. The fact my VOICEMAIL hasn't worked since i've had the phone, and now that i want to cancel the account they wont let me until i come up with an extra $150 to pay for the cancelation in advanced.

DIRTY COMPANY!!

I honestly feel violated and ripped off. When I told the customer service rep I was planing on leaving and wanted to cancel, his reaction was so placid I was sure that 90% of his phone calls had ended the same way.

To think I made it through this email with out cursing.. amazing.
DONT GET RIPPED OFF!!

Bad as AT&T, Worse as Cingular
by ojingo ,May 02 '05
Pros: Works in densely populated areas.
Cons: Two cups connected with string would be clearer and more reliable than this service.
There is one thing this company does well: collect on bills. The cellular coverage in my area is spotty to nonexistant. When I called about the poor reception they suggested that I buy a new phone from them. When I told them that my reception is okay elsewhere they acted mystified. When I got upset that they still tried to sell me a new phone again, "Why do I need to pay you more money so that you will do what I pay you to do already?" they sent out a technician to check the service in my area... and a cell tower was indeed out! I'm still waiting for them to fix it.... and waiting... and waiting...

ATT/Cingular Overcharge on Overage Minutes
by this_sux ,Mar 05 '05
Pros: sadly enough there has been added benefit for me from the merger.
Cons: poor customer service and worst network problems.
I was an ATT customer and now find myself a Cingular customer. My problem is with customer service:

During the holidays I went over my plan minutes. There are two phones associated with the line. One line was charged 35 cents a minute and the other phone 45 cents a minute.

I called customer service to be credited for the second phone--only to be told that they always charge two rates for excess minutes on multiple phones on a singular line. I ask where on the contract does it state this--three reps no answer except that they always charge the additional phones 45 cents for additional minutes.

Finally I ask where I can write to get a better answer to my grievance and I was disconnected.

The sad part is that now I'm looking to change wireless carriers after three years with ATT and almost a full two years on my contract left.

Essentially because they have decided to focus only on sales not customer service, they have lost the $100 plus (multiplied by 20 months) a month of my basic plan and two subscribers for for the equivalent of less than $100.

Pros: worked great out of town.
Cons: Completely unreliable cell service.
Sold "new" "great quality" GSM service in Portland OR metro area. Service was garbage- 7-8 dropped calls daily. Wanted to reverse migrate to ATT Wireless TDMA network. Customer service agents attitudes were poor. Treated my like I was bothering them. Failed to get second line reverse migrated after two customer service calls. Had to call ATT wireless tdma cust. service to finally get it back over.

Cingular is by far the worst
by suicidesquirel ,Feb 28 '05
Pros: If you like wasting your time and money, you'll love cingular
Cons: You'll beg your prior company to take you back
Cingular has the poorest everything that I have ever experienced, not just with a phone company but any company: from the condescending people at the kiosks, customer service (yeah right) representatives, to the supervisors that I spoke with. This company needs to go away forever! I spoke to an incredibly rude customer service representative and told her that I was thinking of breaking my contract because of it. She followed sarcastically with, "Well, you know you're going to have to pay the termination fee.." I said, "I would pay $500 dollars just for some customer service." This is why I left; I work for a major department store where customer service is our life, and you'd think that companies today would learn this valuable tool. Also, they keep sending me all these stupid unknown fees and bills.

CINGULAR'S CUSTOMER SERVICE BITES
by minxx ,Feb 11 '05
Pros: absolutely none
Cons: care nothing about their customers
So incredibly irritated right now. I've been trying to contact Cingular/ATT's customer service for an easy technical question. First of all, the robot tells me that my wait could be "over 20 minutes". Well, let me tell you, it was definitely over 20 minutes. AND THEN AFTER AN HOUR OF WAITING THEY DISCONNECTED ME! I then decided to email them with my inquiry. First I had to register my account. Which I did. Then I attempted to email and it says that it may take up to 3 DAYS to process my registration....I can't email them for 3 DAYS. Aren't we in the technological age?? Aren't they technology?? I can't call, I can't email. Tomorrow I am switching to another provider - one who wants my business.

Cingular Tele-sales=Incompetent service.
by conchens ,Feb 07 '05
Pros: Extremely apologetic, short wait times
Cons: Say they will fix things, but don't really do it.
I had to return a phone because I ordered one online and it was a duplicate order- it got returned, but I can't seem to get them to credit my account for the order, no matter how many times I call the tele-sales number, not their regular service number. They are not open 24 hours, and only 1 out of 6 people give the impression they know what they are talking about when you are on the phone with them. I have to always be put on hold so they can figure it out, it's been a couple of months since this order has been returned, and I still have not been credited. Very frustrating. I also needed a new SIM card, but they didn't send the correct one, It seems to take at least 6 phone calls before you think something has happened, but then you find out no action has been taken.

Cingular Ruined my Birthday
by lisajansen ,Jan 16 '05
Pros: None
Cons: Every aspect of the program.
It is my birthday, and I was wondering why no one has called me so far today to wish me a happy birthday. Well, I just found out why--Cingular disconnected me for a reason I know not why. I pay my bills as soon as I receive them. I am speculating it is because I paid the bill over the phone using credit card, and the company is so incompetent that they don't realize I paid my bill because it was through a means other than by check.

I swear to god, every single month, I spend about 3 hours trying to resolve issues due to Cingular screwing up either my bill or my connection. I have never had a problem with any company in my life until I started my relationship with Cingular. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB, and at this point I am ready to suit. They better watch the hell out.

My account online has my September statement still up and this is almost December. You can't find hardly anything useful on their site and they make it hard for you to find out how to contact them by E-mail. I've been making an estimated payment for months because I don't get the E-mail I'm supposed to get when my online statement is ready. Only $300.00 to get rid of it? Get my checkbook!
by tex-x ,Nov 20 '04
Pros: Only $300.00 to wipe them off the bottom of my shoe.
Cons: 15 words are not enough to do this entry proper justice.
We had one of the 2 phone plans, with all the standard features that all the wireless companies seem to lump together these days.

Without a long detailed write up I'll just give a quick summary:

- Over billing
- "Yes we agree you got over billed, no we can't fix it" statements from customer dis-service reps (I swear one of them actually said "Thank You, Drive Through" during one of the calls).
- Dropped calls.
- MORE dropped calls
- In case I didn't mention it DROPPED CALLS.
- Lies (Particularly about the billing problems).
- More lies.

I finally had enough and paid the $300.00 early termination fee after 1 year of so called service.

We had this plan in 2 different states and even in large metro areas (about 900 miles apart) we got the same results.

Cingular Wireless Ripoff, poor customer service beware of seller!
by enforcer_dt3000 ,Nov 02 '04
Pros: They will smile while they take your money.
Cons: Their customer service does not exist. Outrageous charges. $78.38 for 13 minutes of service.
I signed up for Cingular Wireless and was assured there was no early termination fee.The phone would not work at my house. They charged me $78.38 when I returned the phone. I was told, "Oh, you still have to pay the activation fee, even if the phone didn't work."

The local dealer Cingular Arroyo Gande Western Wireless was of no help. They did not cancel the service, so I had to spend 2 hours on the phone with Cingular Customer dis-Service to get it resolved. Everyone kept saying "You owe us $78.38 for 13 minutes of service."

Cingular is a ripoff. There is no customer service after you hand over your money. Do not spend a dime with them. They will lie to you when you start the service, when you call in for service and when you end the service.

Don't believe anyone at the customer service centers. I provided them documentation via fax and all of a sudden, the person I was told to fax the information to, never existed.
Don't give them a dime. Nothing but aggravation!

Cingularly miserable
by intrepidsoul ,Oct 07 '04
Pros: Friendly voices while on hold
Cons: Secret fees, fast shut-off and they slap you with a $36 reconnect fee without notice.
Each month, there are multiple extra charges that go beyond the scope of the plan. They get you also with their bill. if you're 1-2 days late, they can and will turn you off. No grace period, even if you're a new subscriber. And the information calls (411) are $1.29/each. We don't pay less than $85.00 a month for a plan we were told would only be $49.99/mo. for. ASAP, we're getting out and even the $130 disconnect will be worth it.

hi
Has the worst customer service. Everybody will tell you a different story. Screwed me up with their plans and i had to pay alot because of a mistake made by one of the customer service guys and they still blame me.
They switched all their plans to GSM phones and so ppl with PDA phones had to suffer as cingular would not replace the phones unless you pay for it or sign a two year contract!!
Better to pay a little more with other plans but have good customer service

Don't know what else to do...
by kcpidge ,Sep 21 '04
Pros: To let me out of my contract with no fee
Cons: Too many to list
I have had constant problems with service, billing and the actual equipment. I have spent hours upon hours on the phone with multiple CSR's at Cingular. There has been no resolution. I feel that I'm being WAY overcharged and there is nothing to be done about it. I have sent multiple letters of complaint to Cingular Headquarters in Atlanta, GA with no positive outcome. I am requesting to have my service contract broken with no $350 break of contract fee. This has been going on for over a year now. They will not break the contract. I have since sent letters to the FCC, FTC and the BBB, Cingular has no responded to them either. I don't know what else to do. All's I can say is, why do I want intermittent cell service, why do I want to be overcharged every month when it's not called for without proper credits and why on earth do I want to be on my 5th, on my way to my 6th cell phone since February 2004?

Customer NO- Service
by hatfieldsa ,Aug 06 '04
Pros: Voice mail almost always works
Cons: Customer service is a joke
I thought that it was just bad luck at first that I got poor service when I called customer service. Well, it's the norm! The first time was after only 3 days with the company. I tried to report that I got an error message when I tried to use voice mail and I was told that I was "doing something wrong, because there is no outage in your area." Well they were wrong about the outage and I didn't get service back for 6 hours. This call took OVER 45 minutes. Today I received my first bill. $642.00 was the total and it was terribly wrong. I called the dreaded customer service number and the call lasted 1 hour and 48 minutes! Yes, I timed it and reminded them several times while we were on the phone that I would rather not have to spend all this time couldn't they just finish fixing it without me. I was told that if I hung up they would just go to the next customer and I would have to call another time to fix the bill.

Customer Satisfaction Not a Priority
by vbyers ,Jul 09 '04
Pros: Some of the phones are aesthetically pleasing.
Cons: Customer Service; Number of Reps; Inadequately Staffed Stores; Poor Reception
1. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Customer service reps do NOTHING to assist customers other than apologize. Talk is cheap; customers need action and resolution to problems.

2. MORE REPS NEEDED:
Minimum wait time over 1 hour and 20 minutes in store on a weekday; Minimum two hour wait time on weekends. Wait time for Customer Service via telephone = 5 minutes!

3. INADEQUATELY STAFFED STORES
No store manager on duty to assist customers with special issues.

4. POOR RECEPTION
Calls drop several times during conversation whether phone in motion or still.

5. INCONVENIENCE IN NUMBER PORTABILITY
Customers choosing to take number to another service provider, should expect to be unable to use the number for 7 - 10 work days (1 1/2 to 2 full weeks).

Cingular customer service managers are extremely rude.
by mrlang ,May 25 '04
Pros: The customer service people know how to use a phone and talk into the receiver.
Cons: The company tries to portray itself in a kind and friendly way. Completely bogus!
The customer service managers are rude, belligerent, dissatisfied with their jobs, and show no compassion or flexibility for the people who help them make a living.
After nearly being killed in an auto accident "out of my calling area" I was charged an extra $200 for the minutes that were ran up calling the police, a tow truck, booking a hotel, and all the other headaches that came along with the accident. After never running over one minute in two years, or having a late payment you'd think they'd cut us a break. It didn't happen. They treated us as if we were delinquent customers who were too poor to own a cell phone.
I would find another cell phone company with no roaming charges to do business with if I were you.

CINGULAR WIRELESS HAS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, I ONCE CHANGED MY PLAN TO NATION WIDE SO I WOULD HAVE FREE ROAMING AND LONG DISTANCE, THE PRICE WAS AROUND 79.99/MONTH.I WENT ON VACATION A FEW WEEKS AFTER,WHEN I RECEIVED MY FIRST BILL AFTER MY TRIP IT WAS OVER $700 FOR ROAMING AND LONG DISTANCE.WHEN I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAID IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE AND IT WOULD BE CORRECTED.IT TOOK OVER 3 MONTHS FOR THEM TO CORRECT IT PARTIALLY. I HAD TO CALL THEM AT LEAST 10 TIMES BEFORE I FINALLY HAD A REP THAT TOOK THE TIME TO HELP ME.NOT TO MENTION THE WAITING TIME TO SPEAK WITH A REP IS CRAZY.YOU'RE CONSTANTLY PUT ON HOLD AND TRANSFERRED ALL OVER THE PLACE.I ONCE WENT INTO A CINGULAR STORE AND THE MANAGER THERE CALLED CINGULAR AND HE WAS VERY UPSET WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT HE RECEIVED FROM THE REPS. Pros: The phone hasn't caught fire and exploded yet
Cons: Billing errors, lousy cust serv, spotty coverage even in large metro area
Started using the free long distance my phone plan came with and Cingular charged me for my long distance calls. I call their customer service, they adjust it off my bill, and the next month I'm charged for my long distance calls again. Have to repeat this process every month. I guess "free" has a different meaning to Cingular than to me. Their customer service people sound bored, disinterested, border on rudeness and don't think, just repeat what their screen says. I'm shopping for another provider.

Cons: Can't think of any problems with service.
Had poor service with Sprint and very high bills. Decided to make a switch to my fiance's service Cingular. We created a family plan to share minutes/ cut our costs. Great idea!!!! The switch ocurred smoothly which included a great rate, rollover minutes, and a free color phone. The 1st bill was under $140. The next bill was approx. $80 for the both of us.
