Pros: Not really any at all Cons: VERY poor service, horrible customer service, just all around bad.
After getting tired of paying the jacked up prices for a Nextel cell phone, I decided to go and look for another company to throw my money at. After doing some searching, I decided on Cingular and now I wonder why I ever made that decision. Now, I ...
Pros: Nothing in the pro area Cons: Terrible Customer Support
My wife and I were planning an 11 day driving trip through Europe. Apx. 5 weeks prior to departing on the trip I called Cingular’s Customer Service and asked them what I needed to do to have cell phone service while on our trip. I was prepared to rent ...
Pros: Great signal & wonderful customer service Cons: A bit pricey for regional plan
I have had a plan with Cingular for about two months now. After extensive research of all the company's available I went with Cingular. Here is the best piece of advise...
Go to a Cingular dealer, not a Cingular outlet. A Cingular outlet is...
Pros: Dealers love to bargain on incentives at renewal time Cons: Chances are you'll want out of your contract long before renewal time comes.
I got my first cell phone back in 1996 through Cellular One, mainly because they had much cooler phones than Bell Atlantic Mobile (now Verizon). Sprint and AT&T were pretty much non-existent at the time, so my choices were few.
Pros: Minutes, Features, Customer Service, Coverage Area Cons: Depends on the plan, but very few.

At the end of my original review, I've added more current information.

Cingular Wireless was formally Cellular One. I've been very happy with my plan for the past 10 months, but I don't think...
Pros: Lots of plans to choose from and local free nights and weekends. Cons: Poor customer service, coverage, and roaming.
I used to have Cingular wireless until about 2 months ago. I live in a well-developed suburb of Philadelphia, and originally had Cingular by myself, then I switched to a family plan. When I originally had Cingular, their main selling point was that all...
Pros: Rollover minutes Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE! Arrogant staff, poor selection of phones, store smells nasty, they don't care
Last week my contract was up with Verizon and from what I heard from a few of my friends is that Cingular is so great and all that so I decided to check it out for myself My mom and I, walked in to our local cingular store to see what we could get. As ...
Pros: Service OK in urban zones around Philly Cons: Service nearly non-existent in the Lehigh Valley.
I have been a customer of the system which is now called Cingular for the past 8 years. All during this time, my rural home has had spotty to no service from the Cingular system. Until about 2 years ago when they started building out into the Lehigh ...
Pros: NONE Cons: Awful Customer Service
Cheap Phones
Bad Service
I've been a Cingular Wireless customer for a little over a year now and I'm currently looking to switch. The service has been less than stellar (lots of disconnects, no service and poor connections) but the real reason that I am switching is the ...
I have the FamilyTalk 450 plan, which gives 450 minutes and unlimited calling to other cingular customers and three phones, along with voice mail and caller ID. That comes out to about $20 per phone, which is a pretty good deal.
Pros: good pricing for "Family Advantage Plan", friendly service Cons: sometimes poor reception and echoing on phone
I signed up for Cingular's Family Advantage Plan after going to several other cellular phone companies and checking out their offers. I found Cingular to have the best deal as far as the sharing plans go. For the plan I got, I have two lines, 400...
Pros: Coverage, strong signal Cons: No real time system to check usage, phones aren't as intuitive
I was a former Sprint PCS user for 2.5 years. I made the switch to Cingular because I was tired of the lack of signal strength in Chester County, especially indoors. I finally switched to Cingular on July 1, 2001 and I noticed a significant difference...
I chose Cingular (formerly Cellular One) primarily because they offered the best "basic" deal and offered a decent local calling area. And I will admit, I've been pretty satisfied with being able to get a signal and the overall call quality.

Pros: Semi-cheap rates, no roaming or long distance charges on some plans, easy returns Cons: Horrible customer service
I dont actually live in Philidelpia, but a small town near the MD line. Cell phone service is horrible in my area and I had AT&T. I decided that AT&T just wasn't doing it for me, so I decided to do some shopping. I called the Cingular 1-800 number and...
Pros: good service, great value for the money Cons: Customer Service is not very knowledgeable. Customer account info from their website is poor.
I have been with Cingular for a year now. Overall, I have found the coverage to be excellent. I have had very few dropped calls, no fuzziness. Also- you cannot beat the plans that they have. When I signed up for my plan last year, I got an incredible...
Pros: If used wisely, you can get a lot for your money. Cons: Contracts are confusing, as are certain limitations. Free phone is worthless.
I've been on the Cingular plan in the Philadelphia area for a few months now. My mother and I wanted to get a family plan, so we could talk to each other wherever we are. The plan was fairly inexpensive, and we have 255 minutes per month. We did have to...
Pros: Rollover minutes. Cons: Customer Service reps are very tough to deal with.

Constant problems with their billing by dsadkhin ,Jun 24 '05
Pros: none Cons: horrible service and even WORSE "customer support", avoid at all costs!!!!
I was overcharged by about $45.00. I spent about 2 hours on the phone, called their supervisor, supervisor of the supervisor. They never even bothered returning my calls.
Pros: Cheap Cons: You get less than what you paid for
I got tricked into a 2 year plan by the relatively lower price plan and cool phone deals. Never again, because they lack what counts: signal.
I hated it every time I saw their ad on TV and feel like people should know the truth. They like to say they have a strong signal back when my phone is still under AT&T, back then it was bad, and now after the merge with Cingular its worse! They must've cut back since they have less competition. I live in a suburban area not far from the city and still there are patches of areas having no signal at all and my calls drop 100% when I pass those places.
Ps. To the woman who almost ran into me while talking on the phone, WEAR A FREAKING HEADPHONE!!
I've had AT&T Wireless for about 2 years. I've had a few problems with the cellphone itself which was fixed by excellent customer service. But No dropped calls, billing problems, coverage problems etc. I got a letter in the mail stating that AT&T was going to merge with Cingular but nothing was going to change with my service. Boy were they WRONG!! My mothers phone started acting funny first, then my dads, and then mine. Dropped calls galore, bars that went up and down like they were posessed, MANY billing problems, people calling my phone and not getting my answering machine just some guy talking. I called customer service (who said they were with Cingular) and explained to a woman my problems but she couldn't help so she just hung up on me. Then my dad called and someone actually cursed at him and hung up. I'm really hoping it gets fixed soon because I really don't want to give up on AT&T.
Pros: GSM Service Available, Signals everywhere, Rollover Minutes.. Cons: A bit pricey..
Then go with Cingular if you live in this region. New GSM service standard on most phones, making for amazing signals in almost every area, or location you can think of.
Plus dont forget about rollover minutes, dont you hate when you don,t use all your minutes yet if you go over, you get hit with over usage charges, yes it stinks.
They also offer family plans, so I put my mom on it, and its not like you need another whole plan its the same one you share it, and its a cheap charge per month.
If your looking for a new phone, i'd check this out.
Pros: Rollover is all I can think of Cons: Coverage, dropped calls, errors, customer service
We were forced back to Cingular when they merged with AT&T. We originally dropped Cingular and went with AT&T because Cingular was so bad. Everything was great with AT&T. As soon as Cingular took over, it was back to the old Cingular shinnigans.
Horrible coverage, dropped calls on full signal, funny error messages, unable to make calls on full signal, and absolutely clueless customer service. They've even tried to change our plan on us many times, even though we're still under our AT&T contract.
Pros: Good pricing, good coverage area, great phones offered, great service plans, great customer support/service. Cons: 1- or 2-year contract, Cannot upgrade phone until your contract is almost up.
I signed up with Cingular about a year ago, and have had wonderful customer support/service, as well as great coverage (especially since they've merged with AT&T). Since the merge, we have free mobile-to-mobile which allows us to talk to ANY Cingular OR AT&T customer free! I love the rollover minutes...we always have more than enough minutes for the two of us, and feel that Cingular offers some of the best deals available in our area.
Cingular offers free nights and weekends, free mobile-to-mobile, and cool phones on top of it! Also, one of their best offers is their rollover minutes. Currently, between two of us, we pay $69.99 for 850 minutes, plus $9.99 per month for adding a line. You can view your bill, minutes usage, download graphics, ringtones, games, etc. on their website, as well as set up payment and account options. Their customer service is excellent, and I would recommend Cingular to anyone.
Pros: NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: Everything....Phone Service, dropping calls, poor customer service, phone that never worked right.
The service is poor, that is the phone service and the customer service. I don't know how this company is in business. I have seldom completed a call since the beginning of the contract. The phone that I received did not work right since day one. It doesn't even ring!! I have tried to get the situation fixed, but once you sign a contract they could care less about you.
Cingular disapoints after 14 years by jaytmoon ,Apr 23 '04
Pros: Cheaper plans than other carriers Cons: Lousy Customer Service and reception in some areas. Poor inventory in Cingular stores. Dumb Salespeople
I first purchased a Motorola flip phone from a local (So Jersey) reseller so my wife would have a phone for emergencies. The plan rate at the time was 19.95 and included nothing. 45 cents an minute and more for roaming but the signal strength was good with that phone. The company was flexible on payments and we were happy with the service. When that phone broke 9 years later, we updated our contract 29.95 and got a Nokia 5100 series phone. Pretty good reception (except at my home) and features were comparable to other units of same cost. But I changed jobs and careers which has caused me to miss the payment due date a few times and EACH time they disconnected me. Requiring me to pay an outragious $35 fee to reconnect. Customer service is less than helpful or sympathetic. Never mind that I've been a customer for more years than they've been incorporated.
Bottom line, its time to look for a new carrier and plan since Cingular does not give a darn if you stay or leave.
