Pros: Two-way Radio Cons: Company illegally writes new contracts without YOUR permission!
I was a very happy user of Nextel Communications for almost 3 years. I would have continued to recommend their products if one thing hadn't occurred... In February of 2004 I went to work for a new company which required me to use Sprint for cellular ...
Just a very short recap of my terrible experience with them: Bought a phone off their website, backlight didn't work, sent it back for an exchange. They sent me a new phone, already activated, and started billing me for two phones (and charged me the $ ...
I am writing this review because it was my worst ever experience! I had very similar experiences as the first reviewer (pegdubuc, dated March 12, 2002) regarding Nextel -- virtually no customer service, extremely long wait times (in hours), dealing with...
Pros: Low cost if you use it only as an emergency phone or are nearly mute Cons: add on services make it the most expensive cell phone option available.
My 15 year old son was infatuated with a particular brand of cell phone which was available from Boost Mobile, the pre-paid cellular division of Nextel. They seem to market predominantly to inner city minority groups (see Boost television ads), but my ...
Pros: Pros????? You mean, the good part? HA! FUNNY! Cons: EVERYTHING POSSIBLE.
My review of Nextel will be short and to the point because there is just no use in wasting my time explaining EVERY detail of why they are so horrible. Not to mention the fact that apparently LOTS of other people have already written reviews on how ...
I have been with Nextel for just over a year... I have been happy with the phone service. The phone works in places that my friends cell phones do not, and I don't feel like I've had a lot of dropped calls. I called Nextel yesterday to see about ...
Pros: None Cons: Very long hold times (can be well over 3 hours)
I had two old i1000 Nextel phones and decided to re-up with their service after a couple of years with other services because I needed the direct connect option along with two-way text messaging. When I re-activated my service I was told that my old...
Pros: direct connect
rate plans Cons: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
My husband and I chose Nextel thinking that we could avoid some of our cellular expense by using the Nextel direct connect. If only we had known about the service behind the technology. I ordered my phone first through Nextel. All seemed well, that...
Pros: Phone works, good signal strength, free incoming and long distance, no roaming. Cons: Really, really bad customer service and policies.
Worst "customer service" on the planet. Ordering online is easy. Then hold on while they jerk you around as much as possible. Inept staff set up my account wrong AND charged me a $500 deposit in error. Still waiting to get my money back since Feb. 04. ...
Nextel has worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! If you ask a question online, they make you call. Once you call, expect to be transferred several times and hold for 10-20 minutes or longer. If you are lucky enough to talk to someone, they...
Pros: NONE AT ALL Cons: Longest HOLD times of any cellular service provider. Rudest customer "service" reps.
All I wanted to do was cancel my contract AFTER my 2-year Agreement was up. I'm moving, and don't have a need for Direct Connect anymore, not to mention the phones are huge and cumbersome and don't have the extra features found in most cell phones. ...
My experience with Nextel has been absolute HELL! I used their services for my business. For several of my employees, I requested the most basic plan; walkie talkie only and cellular calls restricted. When I received my bills, I noticed different fees ...

Pros: Direct Connect Cons: Service, phone choices, Service, hidden fees, Service, Wait times, Service
We have been Nextel customers for many years. If it were not for the "direct connect" feature, we would take our 4 family phones/plans elsewhere. The customer service is so horrible, and the methods used for selling new phones is unethical. I just purchased a new phone for my daughter, and almost changed my mind when told about the 22.00 "establishment fee" and the 15.00 shipping charge. I was conned into a deal by the rep telling me he would "throw in" a 29.99 "case". What we got was a holster worth less than 5.00 on ebay, and that already came in the phone's box!! To top it off, we were then charged 8.48 shipping for this item!!!!! I called, and after a very lengthy wait, they were so kind as to credit the shipping. Big Deal. When our contracts are up, we will be gone. The service gets worse and worse every year.
Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Everything. There existence is a con.
Nextel has extremely poor customer service. They will not tell you about early termination fees unless you specifically ask about them. I asked about fees when canceling my service and all that was told was "your billing cycle will be prorated to its usage". I got a bill for contract terminations and when I asked them about that they said I didn't specifically ask about so I wasn't told. Nextel is out to SCREW you. Get rid of them as fast as you can! With Verizon I get twice as much for half the cost with superior service and great customer service.
Pros: Nextel 411 provide directions and movie information. Cons: Everything else.
I wanted to get out of my contract with Nextel a couple of months after having the service. People would leave me messages I wouldn't get until a couple of days later. I could be talking with someone and all of a sudden I could hear them but they couldn't hear me. I recommend anyone considering this company change their minds immediately.
