Terrible Problems Over Past Year
by vikingdave ,Sep 05 '05
Pros: Lots of marketing promises Cons: Promises fall far short in the real world
Nextel Motorola i830 GPS works sporadically, battery life is very short, Nextel online addressbook feature is a nightmare to configure and transfer to phone (and I understand databases well). Sent in forms for autopay from my checking, wasn't done after 3 months of waiting. Tonight, after Sprint merger, Sprint tech I was connected with from Nextel's website couldn't help me and DIDN'T EVEN HAVE NEXTEL'S DIRECT SUPPORT NUMBER! Finally got it elsewhere, then support was CLOSED at 10pm MST! Nextel services look good on paper, work very poorly in fact. Hopefully, Sprint acquisition will help matters.

This is worse than 800MHz analog ever was
by raypendergraph ,Jan 29 '04
Pros: Good voice mail system, two way feature is nice Cons: Bad battery life, bad coverage, expensive, buggy service
I had a Nextel for a year. Many of my friends are required to have Nextel (contractors) so I figured what the heck... bad mistake. The best part about this service is the two way radio, the phone part of the service is very poor. Conversations where one person can hear the other but cannot speak, terminated calls that still rack up minutes, and very patchy service. Another annoying thing is that the type of radio that's used (the underlying technology) requires a lot of power (at least more power than a Sprint or Verizon phone in PCS or 1X mode) and the battery life on the phones SUCK. That is one of the main complaints about Nextel phones. I am constantly being told, "I'll call you back my phone is about to die." by my Nextel subscribing friends. Unless you are a contractor or other professional and need the radio feature, stay away from Nextel until they get all their crap worked out. One good thing about the service is they had a descent voice mail system.

THE WORST WIRELESS SERVICE!!!!
by eskisage ,May 30 '05
Pros: GPS and walkie-talkie Cons: Customer service! Can't get correct information! Should have contact information for the presidents office.
My husband and I were excited to get the Nextel service with the walkie-talkie and GPS. We were with Cingular for years, but decided to go with Nextel (Bad Choice!). Our problems began the first week of service and only got worse. We had charges on our bill that did not make sense and when I would call they would say something different every time! I was told so many different things my head started to spin! One day I did get my bill straight, but the next day there were more charges! IT WAS INSANE! I am trying to get out of this contract. If I was told before the first 15 days that I would be going through this horrible ordeal I would have gladly brought all my equipment back ASAP. I have only been a customer for 1 month and I hate Nextel! I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. They are crooks! And no one will give me a straight answer. I am thinking about contacting a lawyer about this horrific ordeal!

Nextel Service/Customer Service is PATHETIC!
by jdel30 ,Jul 21 '05
Pros: Not ONE! Cons: The poorest of service. Includes hardware, software and, customer service
Myself, my wife and my brother and two friends have NEXTEL Celluar service. I have on more than 5 occassions called to complain about teh lack of service, the inadaquate equipment, and even moreso, customer service of the worst kind! It seems especially so since their name went all over the NASCAR billboards. I am at my end with these people and I am now going to persue a lawsuit in order to vacate my contract. They also need suit for false advertising. If you or anyone you know is even remotely considering using this company for their phone service, please do not let them!

worst ever
by nextelsucks ,Jan 03 '04
Pros: The phones are durable which are made by Motorola Cons: Customer service is extremely poor.
Brief Summary...
I ordered 3 upgraded phones, I received 6 phones... I returned three of the phones in the alloted time. It took 4 months and a total of 18 phone calls to get the situation rectified. Throughout the process Nextel customer service was totally incompetent. I was transferred from representative to representative. Each representative was more incompetent than the last. Nextel phones themselves are quite durable. The service is average at best, but their customer service is extremely poor.

Nextel is the worse
by xyzbobxyz ,Feb 22 '05
Pros: None Cons: They lie, cheat and steal.
The sales rep misled and misrepresented plans to me. I even had brought my former service bill in to use when choosing a plan. Now - I'm paying hundreds more a month and Nextel doesn't care, help or fix - shocker. They have me for a year - funny they have no interest in retaining customers.
