Pros: Best price, Nokia phones available, able to change plans Cons: Missing features, Roaming issues
I got my first SunCom phone in Mar '00. It was a Nokia 6160i, and I had signed up for one of their unlimited plans (which they no longer offer).
As far as quality of service, no dropped calls, at all. Voices are nice and clear, as long as...
Pros: Good customer service when using the 800 number. Two plans, overall good experiences with both. Cons: One bad experience when purchasing first plan.
When I went to purchase my phone and plan, I had done as much possible research as I could. I knew what plan I wanted, and just what phone I wanted. The person who served me was very nice and answered all of my questions. The only problem that I had, was...
Pros: seemingly cheaply priced Cons: misleading termination policy, poor customer service, high long distance charges etc....
I have found SunCom to be one of the worst cellular companies I've dealt with. I can't believe ATT partners with them.Sure their rates are affordable(at first). Upon making a few long distance calls while roaming we found out those charges were very high...
Pros: Absolutely zero hold time, good coverage in weird parts of virginia Cons: Promise the world when you call, rarely deliver, expensive
I joined SunCom in 2001 after looking at nearly every cell phone provider in my area (southwest virginia). Their phones were cooler, their reception better, and their plans more reasonable than anyone else. Most important to me, they promised me when I...
Pros: NONE Cons: You MUST call SunCom exactly 1 month before the end of contract to discontinue service.
THEY ARE THE WORST WIRELESS PROVIDER I HAVE HAD. I hope FCC take back their licenses and bandwidth. There are endless BAD things about SunCom, here is just a few. 1. They lie about their service: (I am not sure if they still do) they claim you can ...
Pros: There hold music was nice. Cons: They lie about their services. Hide charges and deny any errors.
The spring of '04 I opened my Suncom bill to find that my Unplan monthly payment was going to increase roughly $10.00. The good news was that my calling area was also going to increase. I simply had to let Suncom know that I wanted Platinum status. I ...
Pros: Good Coverage area and calling plans Cons: Customer service is below average. Automatic renewing contracts
Suncom is part of the AT&T wireless network and are able to provide good quality wireless coverage throughout the Hampton Roads area and most of Virginia. However the customer service has been very poor in my experience and you need to read your contract ...
Pros: let's see....free phones at the time. Cons: very bad coverage area, misleading reps, very bad customer support, "don't care" attitude.
We got Suncom at the Sam's Club of Newport News Va. 2 years ago. After a few months, we decided to change the plan to better suit our need. It turned out that after that, we had barely no coverage at our home with it, and when we went out, just having ...
I have just recently cancelled my service agreement with Suncom and GLADLY paid the $200.00 just to get rid of their horrible service. I was never able to make any calls from the area around my home and for a couple mile radius due to signal strength and...
Pros: it had a dialtone sometimes Cons: see all above
I have ended up being stuck with a signed contract with the devil. I had signed a service agreement that automatically renewed which was fine until my job required me to move every few months. My plan switched over into At&t coverage zones that I never ...
Pros: The coverage area is great! There is no comparison to it! Cons: Billing system is AWFUL!! This is my biggest pain in the butt!!
OK, let me start off by giving them two very big thumbs up about the coverage area. It is VERY convenient with how much and how far it stretches. This is great but I just have to vent my frustration with their billing system. I have had nothing but...
Pros: Cute phones. Cons: Phones don't work (Motorola especially). Customer service WILL NOT HELP YOU! EVER!
I bought a SunCom plan two and a half years ago. I tried to add my fiance to the plan, and they promised me I would only be paying for an extra line. However, when my bills came, they were charging me like I had bought a whole separate plan. When I ...
Pros: Decent coverage Cons: Terrible customer service
Apparently there is an auto renewal policy that automatically renews your policy for an additional year. Unless you give 30 days notice you will be required to pay a penalty of $200 or else use the phone for an additional year.
Customer service was very unaccomodating, as they clearly communicated that they could care less what the salesman said, but rather tucked away in the contract it stated this.
Pros: Good price. Cons: Extremely poor customer service (downright incompetent), misleading termination clause in contract.
I chose SunCom in 2000 because they had an inexpensive plan with few minutes as I only needed a cell phone for trips and emergencies. Make sure you thoroughly read the contract before signing, as the contracts automatically renew each year. I am moving out of Suncom's coverage area (my husband is military and is being transferred) and will have to pay $200 to break my contract. The customer service is unsatisfactory. So far it has taken me 3 calls to try to remove detailed billing from both of my lines. This was a 2 month promo, and the first time I called was well before the 2 month period was up. Each time the customer service representative assured me that the issue would be promptly taken care of, we will see if it is resolved on my next bill or if it will require a 4th call. Bottom line: I am completely unsatisfied with SunCom, and wish I had chosen a more expensive carrier with better service. You really do get what you pay for.
