Pros: Again, coverage in this area (Colorado) better with Verizon than AT&t. Cons: Read above. Absolutely miserable experience.
On a positive note. I am receiving better coverage through Verizon than I did with AT&T. Concerning everything else:I recently renewed my Verizon contract and purchased a new phone, and LG Env3.The phone would not ...
Pros: No pro's so far for Verizon Customer Service. Cons: See above. Bullies. Verizon Customer "No-Service", (as Clark Howard calls it).
As a new Verizon Wireless customer, I opted for the Verizon.com, On-line, 2 year contract with up to three free Verizon Blackberry Pearl phones. My two adult kids and I signed up for one each. We were told, (and keep in mind this is on their ...
I called Verizon FIOS Customer Service because Verizon was charging me for what was supposed to be a "Free" 6-month movie package promotion for signing up. I spoke with "Brian U." From the very beginning, he obviously had a chip on his shoulder ...
Each person I dealt with at Verizon seemed sincere, but they are trapped.
Cons:
A horrendous customer service phone system.
I have had to spend over a month on the phone with Verizon. I wish I could tell you all the things that have gone wrong, all the different ways they screwed up my order, and the dozens (!) of different phone reps I have had to talk to, but I honestly ...
Pros: Verizon is an easy word to forget once they are put out of business. Cons: Taking, hurting, boondoggling, harming, extracting money
Verizon pretended not to receive my cancellation notice. When I took the phone and DSL account offered by the competition, they sent me this pathetic letter telling me that they were going to lower their prices soon and I would regret leaving their ...
Pros: Absolutely NONE Cons: Absolutely the worst automated CS system ever conceived by mankind
Under NO circumstances would I recommend Verizon for anything, especially Business DSL service. Never in my life have I had to endure the kind of 'support' as given by this company in regards to business accounts. I ordered a Business DSL line for my ...
Pros: none Cons: takes forever to get someone and have repair scheduled, and nothing gets done anyway
I have had Verizon dsl and phone for over a year, everytime it storms (and sometimes just a light rain) my dsl would stop working and the phone gets crackly. They have been over many times and the entire neighborhood always has verizon trucks fixing ...
Pros: Cheap and free calls, free phone with service, no dropped calls Cons: Tones when going over minutes would be nice, No free time during day
Before I had Verizon cell phone service, I had the pay as you go plan on another service. Since I really only needed a cell phone for emergencies on the road and to call roadside assistance, the pay as you go plan seemed good enough for us. Once we moved ...
Pros: None, bad customer service, no way to return equiment or cancel service. Cons: Lots, bad customer service.
I cancelled my Verizon service two months ago, to move my service to Comcast. I had Verizon FiOS TV, so had set top boxes to return. Unlike Comcast, Verizon has NO drop off locations, so they wanted me to take an entire day off work to sit home and wait ...
Pros: The zoom on the Camera (Motorola 710).
The one tech. person who was plesant. Cons: Rude lieing technicians who are stupid
Cheapness of the phone
Everything about verizon

Pros: I no longer have to deal with Verizon Cons: Lots of buck passing among employees. Complete lack of regard for customers. Representatives not knowledgeable.
I changed service from T-Mobile to Verizon in January of 2005 because T-Mobile's network was inadequate in Tennessee. Several friends had recommended Verizon, so I ported my number to them as soon as my T-Mobile contract was up. At that time, I purchased ...
Pros: Products and services worked (when available) Cons: Customer service polite, but very clueless and unhelpfull
We were happy Verizon customers, for quite a while, until they called us, asking us to consolidate our billing under one name. We had accumulated local, long distance, cell and DSL services with them and had them split between my name and my wife's. In ...
Pros: NONE Cons: Worst customer service, many dropped calls
We were customers for over 13 years, never had a problem until almost 2 years ago. Now we are biding our time until we can get out from under this horrible company. They are underhanded and have horrible customer service. They signed us up for a ...

Pros: You'll find some level of coverage almost anywhere you go Cons: spotty service in some areas, customer service has something to be desired
It works almost everywhere I go, the plans are reasonable, and with my state employee discount, Verizon Wireless is the cheapest choice for me for wireless service in the Boston area. Ive had some sort of Verizon service for my cell phone ...
I have been with Verizon since I got a mobile back in late August of 2000. Since then I have switched phones and plans several times, and lived in three different states, so I have a pretty wide perspective on their service. Overall, I am happy with ...
Pros: Nothing Cons: Frequent billing errors that are "your fault" according to them
I recently moved into an area that was served by Verizon. I needed a residential hook up for our apartment since we were moving into a complex of about 100 apartments. I called and Verizon explained there was a $55 set up fee,(this is a garbage fee,) ...
Pros: price Cons: Hidden charges, customer service lacking
In December of 2001 I signed a two-year contract with Verizon. The plan sounded great, and the price was the the best around. When I got the first bill, it wasn't what I was told it would be--there were hidden charges everywhere, including a security ...
Pros: Tri-mode phone signal is strong. Cons: Customer relations, vague policy, Poor organizational system for checking joint plan minutes.
Overall, I am happy with Verizon's service. I often have 2, 3, or 4 bars when other people have none. My complaint is with their joint plan. My fiancee and I have a joint plan where we both make calls and get one bill. We have free calling ...
Pros: Customer service SOUNDS polite and helpful. Cons: Constant technical problems.
After being a loyal customer of CellularOne for almost 10 years I got fed up with their non-existent customer service and switched for Verizon Wireless (Chicago and northern suburbs). In the beginning I was impressed by their customer support: you don' ...
Pros: Great Service, reception, and CS! Cons: What heck no!

Verizon and I had a dispute about faulty equipment with which they provided me. Because we could not resolve the dispute, I terminated and refused to pay the termination fee. I validly disputed the fee under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Verizon...
Pros: Decent coverage in North Georgia Cons: Miserable customer service, over billing, incorrect bills, staffed by angry nasty people
This company is run like something out of a french existentialist play - No Exit comes to mind. If you don't make it to heaven your eternal fate may very well be to remain trapped in a room with Verizon customer 'service' representatives for all of...
Pros: Not sure if there are any??? Cons: High plans, many phone features not supported, not loyal to old customers, hidden charges.
These guys are awful. I wish we still had Cellular One. Being with CO for 6 years meant something. Verizon could care less about how long you've been with them. Verizon's customer service SUCKS. Call 5 times with the same question, you'll get 5...
Pros: Have had no major issues. Cons: Have a had a minor issue.
I formerly worked in the cell phone industry( not Verizon), so I know how things work. The business is complex, the technology is complex, and the people in it are not well paid or highly trained, so lower your expectations. However, I must say that I...
Pros: Good coverage area, CSR's say I'm sorry a lot. Cons: Rude CSR's who lack knowledge, HUGE billing errors
When I originally decided to switch to Verizon, I expected good coverage area and great customer service after I'd heard so much hype over both. What I found was a pretty decent coverage area but HORRIBLE customer service. Over and over the company...
Pros: No credit check Cons: Bad reception, dropped called, horrible customer service

Pros: NONE Cons: Overpriced, POOR customer service, marginal service coverage.
Unfortunately I have the displeasure of dealing with Verizon for my business-use phone, which is primarily my personal-use phone as well. From my experience the phone service coverage is spotty at best in the Rochester, NY vicinity- especially Southern...
Pros: Competitive Pricing. Cons: Monthly bill wrong more often than not. Coverage not up to competitors.
I signed up with Verizon wireless in the fall of 2000 as I knew that I would be moving cross country soon and wanted a wireless plan that would move with me. The sales agent assured me that I would not have any trouble transferring my Texas rate plan to...
Pros: Good connectivity Cons: Horrendous customer service
I signed up for Verizon for their technology. It's great -- I get clearer calls and fewer of them are dropped (vs. Cingular). One thing that will be dropped, however, is my service with them (as soon as my contract is up).
Pros: Good rates, no cheap gimmics. Cons: They can't fix it the first time, or second time, or third time...
Ok, cellphone companies are pathetic in general. So many hidden fees and fine print. The "worry free garantee" is a good thing. I can switch to any plan I want at any time, even their promotional plans. Can't do that with some other companies out...
Pros: Verizon Wireless customer service for my normal account was very prompt, courteous and helpful Cons: Couldn't reach a Verizon FreeUp Sales nor Customer Representative
Previous Experience with Verizon Customer Service

Pros: Good Deal Cons: Over-charges, no service and bad customer service

Dear would-be cell phone owner:
I do not recommend starting off your cell phone experience with Verizon Wireless. My Father and I signed up with Verizon over a year and a half ago and since then there have been nothing but problems. My Father's...
Pros: They are a local phone provider Cons: They are liars and stick you with the charges.
We do not have a wireless service from Verizon and the reason is because we had ( I did say HAD) them for our home phone service. When we signed up with them, we were told we would get the big package (call waiting, forwarding etc) free for 3 months....
Pros: coverage, features, quality of service. Cons: no totally unlimited plans
What can I say I am a loyal Verizon Customer. I have been with them throughout many an incarnation for about 7 years. Yes we have had our up's and down's but I have to say that the company has steadily improved EVERYTHING about what they do over the...
Pros: more covered areas than other services Cons: some uncovered areas, reps sometimes give conflicting information
I picked Airtouch years ago because when I quizzed all my friends with phones and took note of who's calls to me were often dropped Airtouch came out on top. They claimed they covered more areas than any other cell phone company and seemed to fulfill...
Pros: okay reception, good plans, more than enough night time and weekend minutes Cons: ugly phones, satisfactory customer service, not enough daytime minutes
My parents bought me a cell phone through Verizon Wireless last year in January. It has been a year and my contract is now expired.
Pros: There is no pros about this company. Cons: Very poor customer service. Don't live up to contract. Over billings
The company said it would service our area. And it did not. Got calls on the bill that never were made. They said they would take the calls off and they never did. They said we were in there call area at the time of getting the phone and and we were not....
Pros: Good coverage. Good plans Cons: Poor customer service representative training.
I have been a customer of Verizon Wireless for about one year now. I changed to this service because of their shared minutes plan and local coverage area. While I am pleased with these features I have had a few run-ins with badly trained Customer Service...
Pros: connection was fairly clear. Cons: Hellish customer service
My boyfriend and I bought cell phones a little over a year ago. We chose a 2 for 1 deal with Verizon as our provider. I called to activate the phones and the rep who assisted me was not at all familiar with the model phones I had. This caused him a great...
Pros: Friendly service reps who mean well Cons: Mysterious charges, unhelpful reps, you will be transferred in circles and forever on hold
The Background
June, 2001. I just graduated from college, and was starting a new job soon. I grew up and went to school in Massachusetts, and now I was moving to Charlotte, North Carolina temporarily for a job assignment, knowing that I...
I'm almost ashamed to be associated with James Earl Jones. It's Tuesday, 2:30 pm Eastern time, and I'm awaiting a promised repair to my 2 phone lines from Verizon. No big deal you say? It's telephone hell.
Pros: Absolutely none that I can think of. Cons: Calls don't go through. Bad reception.
I just don't understand how a friend of mine can call me here in Illinois from California and he sounds like he's right next door...but when I call my mom 30 miles away on my Verizon phone, I can hardly understand her. We had to keep the phone for the...
Pros: The telephone rings--sometimes. Cons: Horrific customer service, incorrect (double!) billing, towers doing down, different information given each call.
When we purchased our phone and plan almost two years ago, it was with a different company that Verizon subsequently purchased. We selected that company because of their rate plan and promise of local offices, where we could receive personalized...
The customer service is non-existant. I was cheated by a currently fired Radio Shack employee who was/is also a Verizon Licensed Representative. He gave me a plan that doesn't exist, told me that I will receive the full details later, and promised that...
Pros: Very Friendly and Helpful Cons: Messed up at first
I had some problems with my phone at first. The phone just wouldn't work it was "not in service." I called there customer Service and got direct help. They found the problem the person had activated the wrong phone number. So they changed it. Then the...
Pros: Phone variety offered is fair. Cons: Scam City. Their customer service and computer databanks are UnAmerican.
Verizon used to be PrimeCo. PrimeCo would be rated a "3" in my book with respect to service. Verizon, however, rates a "0". If it were not for an easy number they gave me, I would leave skid marks at their office when I'd repair their phones and never...
Pros: They provide jobs for people. Cons: Accuracy, Clarity, and training of employees
I like being able to get long distance service during my summers away from home. That being said, I enjoy Verizon's One Rate Program. Sadly, I have to endure, yes I said endure, Verizon's customer service. I have had numerous problems with the...
Pros: Cheap, just a regular phone company. Cons: Deceptive ,bad customer service and untruthful.
We have (Or maybe had should be the case pretty soon, if they don't buck up their idea's.) the Verizon regular phone service and we found them to be okay but you always have to go over the bill with a fine toothed comb because this company likes making...
Pros: Excellent pricing, great weekend minutes, service in Canada! Cons: No problem so far!
Finally! Cellular service that allows me to call Canada on the same minutes (have family there) - for over a year, I've been calling cellular companies asking if they had plans for calling Canada, and they would act like I asked them if I could call...
Pros: Good plan for a decent price. Cons: Not so good service
When I signed up for verizon, I was a newcomer at the game of buying my own telephone service. My family had been a user of Verizon so I decided that it was what I was going to subscribe to also.
Pros: Phone service is not bad. Usually connect with number called. Cons: Customer Service.
Last month I realized that I was using way more minutes than my plan had. I called and upted the amount of minutes on my plan and found one that would work better for me. My husband had the companion plan with me but we were switching to the share...
Pros: Flexible calling plans Cons: Will not admit fault
Make no effort to retain customers
I have been a Verizon customer for almost seven years now. Until this year I have been fairly happy with my phone services that over the years went from a single analog phone to a plan including two digital phones and averaged about 400.00 per month...
Pros: Inexpensive phones with great features, coverage area is getting better. Cons: Unclear plans don't let you know what you're getting until it's too late.
I recently acquired my Verizon Wireless service for the second time. The first time I used their service, I had the Singlerate Northeast, not bad, but there was no signal where I lived. When I discovered that my neighbor was now able to get a signal...
Pros: Strong signals. Cons: Very poor customer service
Verizon can change its name again, but it cannot mask years of poor customers service. If you can understand your bill and aren't having any problems... okay. If you have a problem of any kind, good luck. You will wait forever to speak to a customer...
Pros: Great coverage, good rates Cons: Abysmal service
I have always been averse to the idea of cell phones. Call me crazy (and if you were my brother, you'd immediately respond by saying, "Crazy!"), but I hold myself in slightly higher esteem than vapid teenagers who go out "malling" and feel the need to...
Pros: None that I can think of. Well...maybe the few cheaper rate plans Cons: Since merger and influx of customers, customer service is really lacking
We have been with Verizon long before the merger. Our first cell phone was a bag phone in the late 1980s. Back then, our plan option was about 30 minutes/month (and that was considered a lot!). How times have changed. When we had a problem with our...
Pros: Call anywhere in the US with no long distance or roaming charges. Cons: This only works if you're using the cellphone within the Northeast area.
I am placing this epinion in the general reviews of Verizon section because though Epinions has categories for Verizon Mobile Phone Service in Las Vegas, Kansas City, Houston, Buffalo, Tampa, and assorted other cities...it does not have a category...
Pros: Good value on cheapest rate plan, around-the-clock phone support Cons: Account errors are time consuming to remedy
Overall, I'm pleased with the service I've received from Verizon Wireless. I'm currently four months into a two year contract, so this preliminary satisfaction is a relief.
When I was shopping around for the perfect combination of the hardware...
Pros: it's a mobile phone service Cons: it's a mobile phone service
Before I switched to Cingular (formerly Bellsouth) I owned a cellular phone with Verizon. It was the best phone for the period of technology and I thought I got a deal because it said free phone with 30 minutes, and free nights and weekends. The best...
Pros: Their phones actually ring... Cons: On hold forever, clueless reps, insult you in any way they can.
No, it isn't.
I moved from Michigan to Illinois. I had signed a 2 year contract in early 2000. In that contract I had signed for installment charges for the phone I got.
I am still a Verizon customer, as per my contract, but I am...
Pros: Service across the midwest. Decent phones provided with minimum of 1 year contract. Cons: They do not state how billing works up front. Shabby customer service.
Verizon prides Themselves on providing great coverage across the United States at good rates. This they do, however how they figure your cost leaves a lot to be desired. They can place a phone call on any bill up to three months after it is placed....
Pros: Affordable, excellent coverage, goo customer service Cons: Billing mistakes
In my household, we have 4 different cellular providers. Some of which you may read about in several other of my opinions. However, without a doubt, Verizon Wireless has the best combination of service, reliability, and affordability. For example, I...
Pros: Affordable, excellent coverage, goo customer service Cons: Billing mistakes

Pros: It "only" took one month before it started working Cons: It stopped working a few days after that and has worked sporadically ever since
When I first moved to Logan I decided to get a cell phone so that I could take it with me to work and always be able to get a hold of whoever I needed to. As I was walking through the mall I saw a stand giving out free phones if you sign up for their...
Pros: The only pros to Verizon are the"non-human services! Cons: In short... the lackluster customer service reps, as well as any other Verizon employee.
I was looking for a great deal in a cellular service provider, and I suppose that is where I went wrong. My wife and I signed up for a plan that would cover NM and AZ and soon learned that we were lied to. The cost was 30 cents per minute inside our...
Pros: Fast answering, friendly people who really try. Cons: Corporate information systems are primitive.
To me, the most amazing thing about mobile phone usage is that the rate of growth is staggering despite the fact that users have such low opinions of call quality and customer service.
I'm a satisfied Verizon Wireless user in the San Francisco...
Pros: Professional Image, Wide area access Cons: Very new to my area, still glitches in the system
I started using cellular services over 4 years ago, and over that time I've seen a lot of changes on the "B" band. All the while Cellular One has dominated the "A" band. Competition is good for pricing, but terrible for corporate takeovers and...
Pros: not to long a wait on hold Cons: doesnt get problems cleared up
Way out here where our cell choices are limited and there are many dead areas to begin with, i at least want there to be a decent customer service dept when I do need them. I had set up my service and paid the deposit all at the Verizon phone mart at...
Pros: Virtually no 'pros' to speak of. Unless you like being raped and abused. Cons: Poorly trained customer service reps, frequent billing errors.
Oooch! Owch! Well, here I am again. Re-entry was a bit rough! I haven't written an epinion in so long, and all this change. Well, I have been motivated, because I threatened the customer service rep that I would write a scathing review of their...
Pros: They are all over the country Cons: Horrible customer service.
I would not recommend Verizon to anyone. They have horrible customer service. The sales people, although very nice, do not know anything. And, if you are unfortunate enough to have to call their national service center......good luck. Those people...
Pros: The pricing plans are reasonable Cons: Customer service stinks! They owe me money and never paid me.
I had Verizone after my mobil account changed to this company. At first, everything was okay. I'd had my account for about three years and had a good working relationship with the people from Mobil.
Pros: reasonable rates, easy connection Cons: high roaming, terrible customer service, wouldn't cancel contract after service-plan ended, continued billing adding fees.
I called Verizon to cancel service when my contract ended. A month later I was still getting bills. I called to ask why. They said I signed a new contract and requested another phone. After two months of calling they admitted their mistake and promised...
Pros: None that I can see. Cons: Bad customer service, hidden fees, and fictitious charges.

Did you know legally they could harass you BEFORE...
Last fall I got a cellular phone because I'm a teacher and it is very difficult for people to reach me during the school day. I picked the most basic plan, and the whole time AT&T was my provider, I never had a single problem. Verizon Wireless took...

Pros: Friendly, and I have to say they have improved! Cons: Most of them are gone!
June 22,2001
I must say that since we first started our service with Verizon wireless, and now, there has been a 100% improvement. They not only know the answers, but are most helpful. Hope you enjoy reading about a company that really "got...
Pros: Decent Calling Plans Cons: Horrendous Service
In a year of cellular service with Verizon, I have yet to have a single excellent conversation with their "customer service". The front line reps are in serious need of training. Even worse is that the supervisors attempt to avoid taking...
Pros: phone was just .01, itemized bill in detail Cons: incoming and outgoing calls take off of the free min., customer service pathetic, coverage lousy, signal, horrible, fees astronomical for roaming compared to most others.
I re-located to the Omaha, NE area several months ago and while I was house hunting I got a cell phone so that I could have a real contact number instead of the temporary place that I was staying at number. I got what sounded like a GREAT deal at the...
Pros: the service is good.. in most places Cons: hidden fees, customer service is bad
Lest anyone think I completely HATE Verizon, let me first say that Verizon's reception has been loud and clear for me any time I have tried to use my phone. I am completely happy with that. Maybe I shouldn't even be complaining.
Pros: It's cheaper to mail your payment Cons: The fact that you're charged $2.00 to pay f2f.
This is the first experience I've had with Verizon. I went to pay the first month's bill in person at the area store. And they wanted to charge me $2.00 for paying in person and cash! If I had a check, and put it in the drop box, they would not charge...
Pros: FAIRLY GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE Cons: UNPREDICTABLE BILLS
I have had my mobile phone service through the same company for just over 10 years now. When mobile phones were just becoming popular I signed up for service which was originally US WEST then went to AIR TOUCH CELLULAR, and now VERIZON WIRELESS. ...
Pros: None, not even good muzak! Cons: On hold endlessly, then disconnected or transferred
I initially had signed up for their DSL service but after reading various comments about the service and speed decided to cancel the installation.
I unsuccessfully tried for a day contacting someone via the phone and was either transferred...
Pros: Good cell service, field salespeople good Cons: Shouldn't have to hound the customer service dept to get results
When first signing up for Verizon's service, at a Mall Kiosk, I dealt with a friendly knowledgeable salesperson that went over the services and features in great detail.
I signed up for a Family Plus Plan with 2 phones. The plan was...
If you read my first epinion on this topic, you know that we've been fighting with Verizon for awhile now about their overcharges on our bills. I had finally decided I had enough, I wasn't arguing with them anymore over a few dollars.
Pros: Very simple plans at a reasonable price Cons: Need a tri-mode phone for Single Rate Plan.
I chose Verizon Wireless Single Rate service because I travel quite often outside my local calling area. Verizon's Single Rate Plan offers the ability to go to New York, Orlando, or San Diego and never pay roaming or long distance charges. I was amazed...
Pros: good if you use your phone a lot, I guess Cons: pathetic customer service, rate plans "disappeared" when they took over, don't care about infrequent cell phone users
My husband and I have had cell phones for about 3 1/2 years. We originally signed up with Time Warner Cellular, which became On-Air Wireless, which became Verizon Wireless. We are not heavy users and only use 2-5 minutes per month, my husband rarely uses...
Pros: Seems like a good deal Cons: Hidden charges, Poor Customer Service, Contract entrapment
I just returned my Verizon wireless phone. Was the verizon name change a requirement for absolutely pathetic customer service? Here is why I returned the phone:
I got the phone/service at a local mall. The salesguy told me that there was a...
Pros: Good quality, decent price Cons: Lousy service
About a year ago I bought a phone and service through PrimeCo. I got the top of the line phone at that time, or at least that’s what the salesperson told me. I was pretty happy with both the phone and the service for most of the time. I had what I...
Pros: good pricing on calling plans Cons: horrible buisness practices / rude customer care
Although Verizon wireless has some very nice features and calling plans , I am very disappointed with what I consider unfair buisiness practices as well as poor customer care with many mistakes on billing.
I LOVE VERIZON WIRELESS!!! by sweetyness ,Oct 28 '09
Pros: Best reception of any provider; Excellent customer service with local reps; deals on new phones. Cons: Somewhat pricey, (you get what you pay for- well worth it)
They have again proven to me why I would never switch cell phone carriers. Their customer service is AAAA No. 1!!! and has been for all of the 9-10 years I have been with them. I called on the last day of my billing cycle because my 2nd line, (sons), went way over the out of network 500 text allowance we had- $150. worth! And also had gone over $110. last billing cycle. (New girlfriend) This was our fault, not theirs, that I didn't change the plan once I saw it going over 1.5 months ago. The very pleasant customer service rep not only backdated the change to the beginning of this cycle, but also gave me credit for the text overages ont he last bill!! Now that's service! Plus I get service where other phones don't- this has been proven time and time again over the years. I will never switch!! Highly recommended.
WORST COMPANY I EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE! by iyachinita ,Aug 24 '09
Pros: nada Cons: everything you could possibly think of a bad experience.
So many hidden charges, when they installed the box left a huge hole on my apartment wall used silicone to cover it up. Different foreign charges are on my bill for the company called USBI I never thought I was paying for it for 6 months 21.35 each month since dec! put a block on it but next month another charge went through from the same company! It would take HOURS!!!! for customer service! I wish I had not left optimum! HAte this company!!!! Bad bad bad! I was very stressed dealing with them!
Verizon tells me to switch to INLAND CELLULAR by ablyons ,Apr 28 '09
Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: Everything having to do with customer service!
Since Verizon installed a new tower in our area, (Grangeville, Idaho), many rural customers no longer get service at all! Three to 4 bars were the norm, now we are lucky to get 1 and hopefully a call will not be dropped! I have called twice to ask for something to be done. I wanted to talk to the service tech, but was told that was not done! The last time I talk to a customer service rep, I was told that maybe I should switch to Inland Cellular for better reception! I have 2 trouble ticket numbers for my troubles! The service in my house is really bad, I can go 20 feet to the west outside of my house and get great service! I would not recommend Verizon to anyone, because of the terrible customer service and cell service we have gotten in the last year.
totally regret getting verizon fios by kpd444 ,Jan 12 '09
Pros: faster internet Cons: Horrific hold times. Over charges. Billed for services never ordered. Lied to repeatedly.
While signing up for verizon I was promised a free cable box for a year. When I got the first bill I was charged for the box and two additional services. Not a big deal. The intentionally horrific wait time on hold was making my blood boil. They refused three times to give me the original deal. Each time they put me on hold for 7 to 8 more minutes. Total phone time to address this problem ONE HOUR TWELVE MINUTES ! The criminal part is, I just saw today that Verizon took the full amount out of my checking account! A former employee told me this is INTENTIONAL. Most people due to jobs or family or limited phone minutes or battery life can't hold that long and just give up and let Verizon steal thier money. It's hasn't even been a month and I so regret ever doing business with Verizon.
No respect for their customers by oldbluejeans ,Oct 20 '08
Pros: None that I can think of. Cons: ALL of this company! Frequent service problems, lousy customer service, and constantly increasing costs.
If you have ANY reason whatsoever to contact Verizon you are in trouble. Wait times are excessive, assuming you can get into the right tel number. The bill states: Questions about this bill? Call this number ***-***-****. Unfortunately, when you get an agent (not an easy feat) she says, "Oh, I have no visibility into billing statements, I'll transfer you - - ". Then another hours long wait. If things like this were isolated incidents, it would be one thing, but this is SOP for these SOBs.
I'd say if you get any Verizon service, be prepared to keep it because you won' t be able to even cancel it.
Terrible Practices and Customer Service by spoonman71 ,Aug 19 '08
Pros: they know how to extort money from their customers Cons: terrible service and unethical
Verizon is unethical. They mischarged me and argued with me about it, even after I had already resolved the issue with a customer service rep. They are unethical. I feel like they steal. Customer service is terrible!
Don't EVEN THINK ABOUT VERIZON!! by fearless345 ,Feb 02 '08
Pros: Cannot think of a single thing. Cons: Poor customer service and total disregard for customers.
Keep moving! Don't do it! You WILL REGRET IT! I got the service and then they lied about the services that I would get, the charges that would appear on my bill and then tell me that I would have to cough up more money just to get what was promised. I have written to my states attorney general and contacted my attorney to see what if any recourse is possible. Don't even try to go through customer service, it is impossible to deal with lackeys.
Hopefully the new spectrum that is being opened up will be bought by someone (like Google) that will offer service that isn't locked. I know that people worry that Google may be too big but Verizon Wireless is evil. I HATE THEM!
Verizon reports credit falsely based on fraudulent and erroneous billing practices by cruzdcruz ,Aug 29 '07
Pros: AVOIDVERIZON. THE LONGER USTAY WITH VERIZON THE MORE YOU WILL REGRET INSPECT YOUR BILLS! Cons: poor service, bad faith, fraudulent billing practices, false credit reporting, harrassing collection methods, lawless disregard
After paying off Verizon and switching2 AT&TCingular, Verizon fraudulently reported unsubstantiated debt to my credit report "Charged Off" AVOID VERIZON !
Verizon Service & Customer Service Suck! by kasey77 ,Feb 05 '07
Pros: None Cons: Terrible customer service.
Verizon Service & Customer Service Suck! I hate Verizon. The service is terrible. I live 8 miles from downtown Sacramento & still can't get good service. Many dropped calls at my house. I called to complain several times. One of the calls - after being transferred & put on hold for over an hour, I finally got to a supposed tech. About a week later they leave me a message saying the cell site has been repaired. BS! They're too cheap to put in a new cell site, which would of solved the problem for me & thousands of others. My signal strength is still weak - one or two bars. I won't recommend Verizon. I'm still having problems.
Verizon customer service-- the entire customer service infrastructure-- is the worst I have ever experienced. I consider them responsible for taking a few years off my life. Although you may talk to one or two people who are "nice," in general the system is a convoluted mess, run by people who are unaccountable, irresponsible, and careless-- because they can, they are a monopoly.
I hate Verizon with a passion and would do anything to avoid using their service.
Verizon doesn't honor all rebates by qoop8888 ,Oct 03 '06
Pros: good cell coverage Cons: having the feeling you have been cheated by the company with the most expensive service
When buying a Verizon phone don't count on getting the rebate. I filled out my rebate form and sent in the receipt and cut off the label on the box. After going through all this trouble about a month later I received a letter from Verizon stating that they could not process my rebate because I did not include the UPC label.I called the rebate center and Verizon Wireless and they said they could not help me. I then went to the Verizon store to cancel my service. After giving my reason for terminating my service the salesman said the exact same thing had happened to him even though he , like I , specifically remembers cutting off the UPC label and mailing it in. He said that he was having trouble resolving his issue but assured me he would take care of my problem . I haven't heard back from him . It is not worth $50 for me to pursue this issue any further. If you are buying a phone from Verizon and cant afford it with out the rebate , I suggest you don't buy it .
Pros: polite, for what it's worth Cons: did nothing to remedy a problem of their own making
I got a new cell phone intended to be a Christmas present for my daughter to replace her old one. When I picked up the new phone, the Verizon moron said he needed to activate the phone for a minute, during which time the phone my daughter uses now would be deactivated. After deactivating her old phone, he tells me "Oh, that's an old phone... I can't reactivate it". So my daughter, who lives 100 miles away, suddenly has no phone service, doesn't know it, and I have no way to tell her. All the guy can do is say he's sorry. Shouldn't he have checked FIRST? I hoped a call to Verizon customer service could re-activate her phone, or at least offer to give her a replacement in the meantime. Nothing was offered... zip... nada. I ended up driving the 100 miles to give her an early Christmas present just so she'd have a phone. I have nothing to put under the tree for her now, and I hope the Verizon people find a duly-earned lump of coal under their tree. As soon as my contract is up, I'm done with these guys.
Decent coverage; absolutely terrible service by dragondave ,Dec 05 '05
Pros: Decent coverage area. Cons: Terrible customer service. Can't recommend them to anyone.
We've been a Verizon customer for a number of years, but we'll be dropping them like a hot potato when our contract runs out. They have fairly decent coverage in PA, but their customer service is jaw droppingly awful. Billing errors by the dozen, and lots of luck getting them fixed. Also, when we re-upped for a new plan, on our next bill they charged us for exceeding our alloted minutes (we've never even come close to doing that). We called and they said it was caused by re-upping the plan. We asked if they thought it was a tad odd that we'd get penalized for being a loyal customer? They're response: too bad. Wrote them an e-mail with the same points. They're response: yep, we sure did charge you. But that's too bad.
I can't say if other cellular services are any better, but I know I'll be finding out when our contract is up.
Not very good cell phone company by urbanweasel ,May 06 '05
Pros: good coverage area but roaming will cost a fortune Cons: Forget calling billing there clueless
I don't recommend them there customer support and billing both pass you from one person to the next
and billing doesn't even understand how they bill and cant explain there billing. there prepaid will hassle you when your minutes get low to buy more minutes
Worst Mistake I Have Made In A Long Time by verizonsuxx ,Mar 07 '05
Pros: There are no pros Cons: Most expensive wireless plans available
Was switching to Verizon Wireless. I should have stayed with T-Mobile. I have heard of homes being referred to as a "Money-Pit" but never thought something as tiny as a cell phone could be called the same thing.
Pros: Prompt cashing of your payment checks. Cons: Phone service. Customer service. (attitude that you should be thankful they even answered the phone)
I've been a Verizon customer for over 10 years. Service used to be great. But that was 2 years ago. FULLY 1/3 of ever call I make now drops within the first 60 seconds. Verizon's response - "Tough!" Their business has grown to the point that they could not care less about customer satisfaction. Talk about moving to a competitor that will provide better service and it's "Do you want to disconnect today?" You bet. The cancel fee is well worth dumping this crappy service!
SENT BILLING TO LATE TO CANCEL by smiley458 ,Jan 06 '05
Pros: was happy with verizon prior to this experience Cons: verizon billed on last day to cancel-- emails not answered by wirefly or verizon
I was happy with my verizon phone and service until ordering a new camera phone through wirefly. My service through verizon included free calls to Canada, which was the main reason for purchasing the plan originally. When ordering the new phone from wirefly, I specifically asked if I would be on the same plan with free calls to Canada. The girl did not know and called her supervisor who said absolutely yes. On that authority, I ordered the phone. VERIZONS complicity in this transaction, was by not sending the bill until the very last day I could cancel the contract. By the time it was sorted out, it was past the 15 days, so now I'm stuck with a year of having to pay 25 cents a minute extra for calls to Canada. Neither wirefly or verizon return emails or calls.
You can bet that after my contract is up, I'll be switching to cingular, without a wirefly phone.
Worst Customer Service!!!! by mmonagle ,Dec 29 '04
Pros: Great reception. Cons: Lack of customer service. Rude, incompetent and generally unhelpful.
We have used Verizon for over 7 years, mostly because they have the best reception. But, wait until you have a problem and need to upgrade or fix a bill or change a phone!!! They hire the most incompetent, rudest people on earth. The lines are long in the stores, so they try to pass you off to other stores. Then, they claim to fix your problem and months later, you are still trying to fix your bills!! The only qualification for a job at Verizon is a pulse!! (and it only has to be a weak one, at that.)
Pros: They do answer the phone when you call. Cons: The result is the same as if they hadn't answered the phone.
Talking to Verizon customer service people is guaranteed to make you crazy... make you want to kill someone... shoot your blood pressure through the roof! DO NOT get Verizon phone service if you have a heart problem, because you WON'T survive talking to their "customer service" people! Whatever the problem you're having, they CAN'T help you. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, they always follow the same routine: they put you on hold for a few minutes, come back and tell you that a supervisor will call you back. You will NOT get a call back. Tried that 4 times; they never called back.
Talking to Verizon customer service is frustrating, always unproductive, and the worst part, perhaps, is that they will talk to you in a tone of voice that shows they think YOU'RE the idiot!
Pros: Good phone plans Cons: Horrible customer service
Verizon was my first cell phone and in the beginning I had no problems and their rates were low even though the down-payment was high. When I tried to switch my verizon account into my husband's name my husband asked them to change our plan to one that had more free minutes. Instead they changed it to some off-the-wall plan and said we owed them more than 3,500 dollars for the next two months. When my husband called to complain they told him he didn't have the authority to change the account, because it was in my name still. They also sent the bills to the wrong address and were unable to provide the recorded conversation in which my husband supposedly changed the plan, and apparently they let him do it illegaly, since he had no authority with the account.
bad customer service and unprofessional by argids ,Oct 14 '03
Pros: not a long waiting for representatives, who are friendly. However, check the Cons. Cons: Friendly voice does not mean anything, when nobody knows right answers to your questions!
I recently moved from California to Texas (College Station). I wanted to have a phone line, even though I use my cell phone more often.
I have a phone line service with the Verizon about 10 days. Interestingly, my phone number is not registered in their system yet. I called to add a feature for a long distance, but according to a person I talked with, I only can do that on the web. However, I cannot do it, because my number is not registered with them. What kinds of company is this?
I think the representatives do not have enough knowledge to handle the request of customers. I was switched to the different department for no reason. They even cannot connect you to the right department either.
I do not believe this can be the first impression for the Verizon. I do not recommend this company to anybody.
