Pros: Reliable service, extra features Cons: It's still cellular service, therefore quirky at times
I need to warn you from the outset: this may not be an entirely fair review. Since I sometimes have to install Internet servers at locations that may not otherwise have telephone service at the site, my job requires that I have the ability to contact...
Pros: It works, they work, and it's priced right. Cons: Still expensive, occasional problems.
We've had cellular service for quite some time now and know lots of folks who have it also. We've compared the plans and rates and services of many companies and find Verizon Wireless to be among the very best.
Pros: Good Service/coverage area/deals Cons: so/so cust. serv... Can really screw up Bills
I'm in the Cypress/Houston, TX area. Some times I travel to Florida, but that's with a different plan that I'm going to mention. I get great coverage in my home areas, and even down towards Galveston and surrounding areas. I use the Texas Homerate/ Local...
Pros: Lots of minutes, free nights & weekends Cons: Poor connections, horrible customer service
I've been a Houston Cellular, and now a Cingular, customer for several years. I switched to Verizon because I could get a new phone Samsung SCH-T300 and more minutes for a cheaper price. I had also heard (I guess from Verizon?) that they have better,...
Pros: covers the major corridors of the state, priced better than most Cons: cell phones are always priced high
I am not in the Houston area, but my service does extend that far. I am based in the Corpus Christi area and the service I have through Verizon actually has Houston in my local calling area.
I have found that they have a pretty good calling plan for...
Pros: Good coverage area, decent quality on digital service Cons: Inflexible, expensive, and poor customer service
I have been a customer of Verizon (formerly GTE) since 1991. In the world of cell phones, that's a very long time! You would THINK that I would be given good service when I call Verizon Customer Service. But nooooooooo. Almost without exception,...
Pros: Very clear service. Can use in small towns. Cons: Price is higher than other cellular companies
Using my phone for over a year, I have not had any problems with clarity and reception. My family and I do many car trips. On the way to California, we called my sisters in Northern California while we were in the middle of the Mojave Desert. I was...
Pros: Customer service, coverage Cons: Voice quality isn't crystal clear (not a big deal)
We established our service in Houston using an authorized agent http://www.affordablecom.com. I was very pleased with their service and recommend them above visiting Verizon's own stores. One reason is that they offered the Motorola v60s which is not ...
Pros: Reliable service all over Houston Cons: None really
I have had a Verizon mobile phone in Houston for nearly 3 years now. I have been very satisfied with the service. I have not encountered any dead areas anywhere in or around the city, and I have been in and around all parts of the city and suburbs. For...
Pros: Good connections
Reasonable monthly cost Cons: Lousey customer service
I have used Verizon since they were Primco - so I'm not a new subscriber. Over the years, I have found their service to be generally good, the coverage and reception are acceptable.
Pros: NONE Cons: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & HORRENDOUS COVERAGE
In a nutshell, Verizon has poor coverage, poor customer service, will lie to you and is afraid of the competition that Cingular brings to its business. I had Verizon for 2 years. During my first year, my crappy phone had an antenna breakage problem. I ...
Pros: Good coverage area, reliable service, and decent customer service Cons: Unimpressive phone selection
My family has been on the Family Share Statewide plan for about 3 years (3 phones), we have traveled all over Texas, and have had little or no problem with service area or dropped calls. The customer service is generally fine depending on who you get, and my experience with wait-times in the service centers is acceptable.
My only real gripe with Verizon is their unimpressive phone selection, especially on the lower to middle end. I am not expecting whiz-bang phones at the 0-$100 price range, but higher quality products would be a plus. The other carriers have Verizon clearly beat in this area. I was prepared to upgrade our plan and buy new phones recently (with the dastardly 2 yr. contract to go along with it) but eventually decided to keep what we have for the time being until such a time that Verizon offers better phones. I'm out of contract and OK with my current plan, so I am in no hurry to re-sign. Just waiting on Verizon:-)
Screwed by Verizon in Houston by vanwagner ,Jun 29 '04
Pros: Good reception. Cons: Prepare to be demonized.
We have been customers of Verizon for 12 years and have had a horrible relationship with them. Why 12 years you ask. Until recently you could not take your phone no. with you, and that was important to us. A few years ago they deleted our rate plan by mistake, to make us pay what we were guaranteed to pay, they gave us a $30 a month credit. Now they have said no more Mr. Nice Guy, no more credit. They said get another plan, at $30 more a month, or get lost. Two people at Verizon said No early termination fee, go in peace. Guess who lied? Now we have a $450 bill to fight over. After explaining this whole grisly matter to a vice president of Verizon we were told Show me the money!. In the Verizon contract it says any dispute will go to arbitration, guess who has to hire a lawyer and arrange the arbitration. Im betting you guessed right! I would sooner have hot needles driven in my eyes than to go back to Verizon. We have gone with Cingular and everything seems O.K., time will tell.
