Franklin Spanish Master Model DBE-1440

Pros: Both models are better than any other on the market for completeness and verb conjugation.
Cons: They look like a palm pilot and are a popular target for pickpockets abroad.

There are two versions of the Franklin Spanish Master Model DBE 1440. One is the straight 1440 with a Larousse dictionary, and the other is the 1440A with the Merriam-Webster dictionary. I have both. Both are splendid, the best Spanish-English dictionary available, mainly because they both conjugate verbs and (better) they recognize conjugated verbs and can give you the infinitive form. The 1440 is better (in my estimation) than the 1440A because it contains an unabridged dictionary, containing everything, including swear words, sexual words and other stuff that you might hear on the street or HBO Latino. The 1440A is sanitized and won't translate sh**, fu** and the like. I suspect the 1440A was designed for Christian schools or something like that, where looking up dirty words was either not necessary or not desired. If you want a full, unabridged Spanish-English translator--the best available--go for the 1440, not the 1440A.
