Pros: Good value, picture and sound, Digital 8 compatibility and savings on tape
Cons: Low-light performance could be better

    May 26 '03
Pros: Good film quality, easy to use
Cons: Slow serial connection, low durability of the camcorder, expensive reperation costs

Summary: I bought the camcorder in Sep. 2000, used it mostly at home and for one holiday trip. Altogether I filled 7 cassettes during 2.5 years. The quality of the films was OK, the option to save pictures on the memory stick is more or less a joke with a ... read more

Cons: short battery life, complicated to use

Summary: It'sa very difficult camera to use. The features, of which there are many, are difficult to access. The battery life is way shorter than the videotape capability. And I've been searching for six months for the gizmo that allows me to put the Super 8 ... read more

  • Sony comes ahead in Video , but Still Images are Not Worth Taking

    Sep 22 '01
Pros: Very Expandable, Plenty of Options, and Great Quality Video
Cons: Digital Camera Mode not worth it

Summary: I bought in hopes of the Still Image Quality being better than my Old Sony Mavica, plus I would have a Camcorder, which everyone can use. Sadly I was disappointed in the poor image quality the Sony stills produced. You can actually get better stills if ... read more

Cons: PRICE=$$$, Battery Wasted Drastically When Popout Screen Used, Strange PC-Video hookups.

Summary: The video on a Digital8 tape is unbelievable. And the Sony TRV320 is what helps it to be the clearest quality video taking I've ever seen for home use. I took this thing to a State-B Basketball Game, and when I played the tape on my TV I was stunned. I ... read more

  • Great picture but bad steadyshot

    Mar 15 '01
Pros: Very good picture quality with about no dropouts.
Cons: Steadyshot is not much noticeable. No Widescreen playback on regular TV (only compressed).

Summary: Biggest issue I have with the camcorder is that the steadyshot is not noticeable. My old Sony Hi-8 does do this well. If you like using a tripod then you're fine, but if you like to shoot scenes from your car or while walking, it's shaking pretty bad ... read more
