Buyer Beware!!Jan 17 '00 Write an essay on this topic.My husband and I bought a Toshiba DVD player model 3006. Which at the time was one of the top ones made. Well, as the newer DVD's (ie; Varsity Blues, Scream 1&2, Waterboy) came out the DVD player wasn't able to read them saying it was not a format compatible with our DVD player. We called Toshiba and explanied to them the problem. They said that if I had my reciept that I could return it to them and they would issue me a new model, but if I couldn't find it I could send them a money order for $49.95 and they would ship me a new model. Well, I couldn't find it so I sent the money order, making sure to tell them the day I sent it that it was on it's way. I called Tosiba every week to check on the status of my "order" and as far as I was told everything was alright, they had recived it and the new one would be shipped to me in 2-3 weeks. Well, I called again last week to have someone tell me that they hadn't read anything in there indicating that it was there and had been shipped, but she was going to look into the matter further and call me with the details. I left for the weekend to come home on Sunday to hear a message on my answering machine stating that they had NEVER recived my DVD player and unless I could give them the tracking number, which I had given it to someone earlier, that there was nothing they could do about it. So now I'm in a struggle with Toshiba to get the DVD player that I had already paid $400.00 not including the money order back. Needless to say I had missplaced the tracking number and the insurance information from my package. At the time it was the Thanksgiving holidays and we were also in the process of moving, so I had given it to them just in case it would get lost. BUT.. the woman I had spoken to said that nobody I had spoken to wrote anything down in my "file". So, when they say Buyer Beware.. you'd better listen.  |
