Pros: Tons of channels, Good support, Easy to set up yourself, cheaper and better than cable.
Cons: Initial setup turned out to be harder than expected, due to getting local channels, picture sometimes gets fuzzy during storms and planes flying over.

DirecTV is definitely the best decision my family and I ever made. A couple of years ago, we didn't even have cable, but now, we have access to over 500 quality channels with movie packages, sports packages, and more!
Why did I buy this product?
We bought DirecTV because we were sick of missing out on the shows that everyone else got, and because word got around that it was better than cable, despite the initial cost for a dish. Now that the costs for dishes have gone, there is really no disadvantage to getting this service.
What has my experience been like, and what are your favorite/least favorite features?
As you can probably already tell, my experience has exceeded fabulous. My favorite thing is probably NFL Sunday ticket as well as the Platinum Movie Package. NFL sunday ticket lets you see every single nfl game that there is. You could sit in front of your tv all day watching football games, not that you would want to do that; moreover, it gives you some of the games you really want to see but miss due to the networks not showing them in your area.
The Platinum Movie Package is basically a ton of non pay-per-view movie channels with quality movies that have just come out of the pay-per-view arena. I found this to be a great alternative to paying money ordering movies, as well as making runs out to blockbuster to rent movies.
Not only does it offer these nice extras, but it also has tons of music channels. This is definitely another one of my favorite elements of DirecTV. There are about 100 satellite music channels, according to genre, and it is just non-stop music without ads. Of course, there are no music videos or anything, but who needs 'em?
The only problem I have had with direcTV is when they first came to install it they had trouble getting me local channels. This was, of course, a long time ago and I know for a fact that it is much easier to get the local channels now. Oh and sometimes the tv gets a little fuzzy when a plane flies over or there is a storm, which can be a pain in my rear end.
The Final Word
I am pretty sure I have made a strong case for getting DirecTV, as it is one of the best things you can have in the form of entertainment. It is cheaper and more controllable than cable, and I would never go back!
