I recently decided that I needed a cellular phone, so I went searching for the "best" offer on rate plans. I noticed in our local newspaper that Bellsouth had a "free" cell phone, with activation, of course. So I thought that I would get one because I had been a Bellsouth customer for years and was under the impression there wouldn't be any "hassle" about getting service with them. Boy, was I wrong!!!
I had recently went through a messy divorce and my credit rating wasn't perfect, not bad, but not perfect. Upon arriving at the store and filling out an application, I was informed by the service clerk that I would have to give a $300.00 deposit..!! I could not believe my ears. Needless to say, I didn't get the service because I am under the impression that if you are a faithful customer of a business, then they should not try to commit highway robbery when you wish to purchase additional services..!! I have since taken my business elsewhere but I wanted to alert everyone that if you don't have a PERFECT credit rating, then Bellsouth would not be the way to go because they DO require a very large deposit...!!!
