I purchased this player purely based on the Marantz brand and price.
looks.
I am not particularly fond of the Marantz look; to me it looks somewhat clunky and oversized.
features.
This unit has the essentials. You can load discs even while the unit is playing another disc. This is supposed to be handy although it takes me a while to find 5 discs in my library that I want to listen to, and I usually start the player all at once not just on one. The shuffle feature is really nice if you like to mix up your music!
performance.
The player sounds pretty average. You will not fall in love with your favorite titles with this machine. The depth just isn't there. Don't get me wrong -- the sound is good but keep in mind this is a $300 5-disc changer and in the world of audio you definitely get what you pay for. I bought this unit strictly for the convenience of listening to multiple titles at the same time; to enjoy variation not sound quality.
I highly recommend this Marantz cc48 cd changer if you are on a budget and you "just want a good changer."
