| AaronS's Full Review: Dish Network DishPlayer 500 Channel Satellite Syst... |
When I finally decided to ditch my cable television provider I hadn't even thought about what I was going to do afterwards. I had toyed with the idea of just not having television, but that quickly faded... I tried to get another cable provider, but that wasn't an option... that's when a friend clued me into what has to be the best purchase I made in 2000, my Dish 500 system from Dish Network!
The ease with which I set this thing up and subscribed for service was amazing! I bought the dish and one receiver at a local department store for $199.99 on a Friday night. Saturday morning I set about installing the system. With the help of a friend we had the whole thing set up and receiving extremely strong satellite signals. The instructions were very easy to follow and the set up only required a few tools.
The phone call to activate service waseven easier than the installation. No hassels, no pushy sales people, no long hold times. I spoke with a customer service rep for about 10 minutes and in that time my account was set up and activated. Another 10 minutes and I was watching satellite TV!
The picture quality is simply amazing. I never knew that my samsung TV had the abillity to display such a bright crisp picture. It was the first thing I noticed after watching. The programable menu for channels is fantastic. You can get program information above and beyond anything cable can provide.
And of course.... the price is SO much cheaper than cable, especially digital cable! Right now I am paying $29.99 a month and get 150 channels. I was paying $49.99 a month for cable and only had about 55 channels. The cost savings just can't be beat. The money I spent in the beginning to get the dish and receiver will be essentially paid back to me from the savings over cable.
There is a promotion going on now that offers a $50 credit for any friends you get to sign up with Dish Network and I have already cashed in on this multiple times. Essentially I haven't paid for the service since the first billing statement three months ago just because of all the credits I have been able to get.
