| gexx16's Full Review: Nokia 5110 |
For obvious reasons (if you check my profile), I'm mainly interested in cheap stuff. I bought this phone last year for a reasonable $100.
I have been and still am extremely satisfied with it.
My reasons:
Long battery life Despite the opinion of mobile phone producers, I buy a mobile to use it. With most of them you have to recharge it every 2-3 days. Not speaking of older models where you had to wait for the battery to discharge before recharging. Well, not anymore.
With the 5110 I speak plenty and only recharge it once a week.
Comfortable The 5110 makes a good compromise between size and usability. Did you ever try to use one of these fancy, miniature new phones? I'd write on the box: "Suitable for ages 3-10". I don't like to have to use a magnifying glass to make sure I press the right button. The 5110 fits well in hand and has a well-designed, robust keyboard.
Weight I know I'm walking against mainstream but I like to feel the weight of my phone. With the new ones you wouldn't even notice in case it falls off your pocket.
Functionality The 5110 has all the functionality I need. It's probably not much but I certainly don't need to carry with me a PC of the size of a phone and with the display accordingly. I don't, and probably won't for a long time, browse the net on the street.
Quality The clear, undistorted sound of the 5110 makes it hard to beat even in areas of low signal. And, mobile or not, I primarily wanted to buy a phone to use wherever I am.
In conclusion, even if an older model, the Nokia 5110 remains an affordable and reliable quality mobile phone. I'm not giving it the 5 stars only because it lacks the infrared communications present in its bigger brother, the 6110.
