I've had my Sprint PCS service for about a year now. Overall, I've been very happy with the service - it's inexpensive, I can make long distance calls in the "free" minutes, and it's fairly reliable. Plus, I don't have to sign any contracts - it's a month-to-month service.
Traveling with the phone is a breeze - I have only been to a few cities that didn't have a PCS network. I've been to very small towns (Lafayette, IN for example) and had no problem picking up the PCS signal. It's great to avoid all of those roaming charges that you get with other services.
My two major complaints are:
1) Spotty local quality: I have only had 2 calls dropped since I started the service. However, sometimes the signal goes in and out so much that I have trouble staying on the phone. Maybe it's the mountainous terrain, but I shouldn't have those problems in the city.
2) Phone not ringing: Sometimes the phone won't ring. I have the phone on, the signal indicator is good, but someone calls me and gets voicemail. This has happened a handful of times, and I can't pinpoint any rhyme or reason for it. It seems to happen most often when I first turn on the phone and for about 3-5 minutes after that.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the service, and I would recommend it to anyone using it for recreational purposes or for business travelers. Local businessmen should wait until the signal quality in Phoenix is a little better before going with Sprint PCS.
