As a principal in an Architectural firm here in Orlando, excellence in service is probably the #1 criterion in choosing any type of service provider for our company.
As most providers offer roughly the same plans/fees we went with BellSouth thinking that the reputation of their company would provide us with peace of mind. Accurate field communications, quick repair turnarounds and quality product are critical to us in providing a high level of service to our own clientele. We were careful to avoid the beeper/pager/catchall shops that spring up everywhere and bought our phones directly from the BellSouth Corporate Store on West Colonial.
What a major disappointment. Our phones needed repair three time, which didn't bother us too much, but on my first visit I waited 45 minutes without being served. I filled out a comment card to that effect, but never heard back from anyone at BellSouth.
On my second visit with a business partner, we again waited 20 minutes and were told that 'there was only one technician doing repairs,' hence the delay. Again, the comment card and no response.
The third time (the above visits were to simply get an ***antenna*** for a phone I waited ten minutes, then told the girl in the Sales room that I was fed up with waiting and asked her to go back and get me an antenna. She did this cheerfully, and brought it out in short order. I was then told that, even though we had bought their 'insurance' plan, I would still have to pay $25 for the antenna. The reason? She stated that because this was the most common breakage/loss problem, BellSouth would not cover it. Funny, I was never told this during the initial purchase.
As a Corporate Trainer for many years, the quality of service provided by a major player such as BellSouth appalls me. Add the insult of three customer cards being filled out by me and no reply to any, then compound that with the multiple 'testimonials' of 'great service' replete with photos of area celebrities, politicians, et al and you end up with a Corporate customer that not only will never utilize the services of BellSouth Mobility again, but will not hesitate to steer customers forcibly away from this company.
On an ironic closing note, my Residential Service with BellSouth has been outstanding.
