I had never heard of Netflix before I opened up my brand new Toshiba DVD player and there was a little flyer in it that said I would get 15 free rentals. Well free is one of my favorite words so I figured I would check it out.
Then I get to the site and they no longer rent movies that way, so I read all of the fine print, and now rather than the 15 free rentals, I would get my first month free. I figured hey, if I don't like it I will cancel. So here is how it works:
1. You join for $19.95 per month (unless you have a free offer like I did)
2. Search all through their site and pick any movie on DVD that they have that you would like to see. You may even choose movies that haven't yet come out (they will be shipped when they come in). You add these movies to your Netflix online movie Queue. You can add as many or as few as you wish (I currently have like 70 in mine).
3. They will will then mail you four dvd's on your list. When you look at your queue you rank the movies in the order you would like to see them. They will mail you the first four (in your order) as long as they are in stock. If it is out of stock they will mail the next one down.
4. The movies come very quickly (in about two days). You watch it whenever you have time, then pop it into the postpaid mailer that comes with it and stick it in the mailbox.
5. As soon as you mail it you can go to their site and log into your account and click the I mailed it button and they will send the next movie on your list. You don't have to go to the site and press the I mailed it button, when they receive your rental back they will automatically send the next one on your list.
6. You are allowed four movies at a time, so it gives you a variety and time to watch them all.
I had to contact customer service one time(a movie didn't come), and they responded within 6 hours and were very friendly and helpful and just re-shipped the movie.
In closing, I love this service, you never have to pay late fees! Never any running late at night or early in the morning to the video store to get those rentals back on time. I also notice that our local video stores don't have much to choose from for DVD rentals. And lastly, this will give you a chance to see some movies that you might not have wanted to pay $4 to see on rental.
