Aiwa is a problem

Dec 30 '99

I was glad to see a few other epinions members note that they have had problems with Aiwa CD players. It can only help others to add my negative experience to the list.
The model that I own doesn't seem to be represented here. It's the CX-NA71, a 3 disc rotary changer with dual tape deck and "Super T-Bass". I bought it about a year and a half ago. About a year into my ownership of the product it started to refuse to play certain discs. You can hear it trying to spin the disc but after a few seconds it will give up and move on to the next disc in the tray. The problem usually isn't with newer discs but I've tried the problem discs on other players and they work fine.
Its an otherwise fine player when you put in discs that it likes to play. Great, full sound. The Super T-Bass is pretty strong and I usually leave it off to give the neighbors some peace. The sound is fine without it.

Its a nice compact system for only about $250. I thought that I had a great deal until it started crapping out a year later.
Research other brands, Aiwa is a problem.
