| Imani78's Full Review: Houston Cellular Mobile Phone Service in Houston |
I signed up with Houston Cellular because I am out at night a lot after work and decided I need to have a phone in case something happened to my car on the road. Houston Cellular was offering corporate rates for my company so I figured, "Why not?". I didn't have to do a thing, the salesman came to my job with the phone, explained the features, rates, etc. Whenever I called about my phone with problems like not having service a couple of times, the representative was helpful but when you have a phone, you want to be able to use it, emergency or not. One time, I referred my brother in-law to them, he got a phone and a much better rate plan than mine, when I called to ask why, the customer service rep. told me that she could not and would not offer that plan to me. I told her maybe I was with the wrong company, that maybe I should look into other companies who offer much better deals. She told me that it was my prerogative (I guess she learned a new word), caught herself, put me on hold then came back and offered me an even better deal. I thought that was just a one time thing, with her rudeness. After using Houston Cellular for five years, I decided to upgrade my telephone to one that was smaller and had more features and that was digital which was supposed to better. I got the 90 minute for $20.00 plan and if I went over the 90 minutes, was supposed to still have my corporate rates. One month I went over the 90 minutes, and was charged $.45 per minute which was not right. I called, first of all was on hold for a long time then the recording came on, said that all representatives were busy that I should email them or call back at a later time. I opted to call back and always got the same recording. I then decided to send an email, waited a week, got no response, sent a second email, waited another week, and sent a third email. In the meantime I called all through the day trying to find out when the best time was to call. I finally called a local store, was transferred all over the place until I finally got a person to talk to. The woman was not very helpful, told me to prove what the salesman told me at the store where I bought my new phone and of course, he didn't write his promise on the contract. The customer service has just gone down the drain. I spent quite a bit of money on the phone and accessories but I didn't blink an eye when I went with another company who has no contract, I have a lot more now and of course, my contract with Houston Cellular is not up but I don't mind paying until the contract is up.
